  1. because of this thread I'm listening to all of my records worth bank. finished some sst stuff, popped on the minor threat 7"s, listening to "sex bomb" now.
  2. as someone that has a handful of multi hundred dollar records (and records that have maintained this value for more than 2-3 years cough gaslightagainstmehwm cough), I just put them in my record firebox. my firebox is simply an old record box that has all my bonzers in it. minor threat 7"s, first press black flag 7"s, weirdo sonic youth stuff, early uk punk, etc.. I also listen to these records because what's the point in owning something if you don't use it for it's intended purpose? If you're just putting it in storage, you're just buying the rights to brag.
  3. jesus this Doug guy sucks. like what was said previous, this dude wouldn't have survived ordering records even 5 or 6 years ago. squares buying hardcore records.
  4. Just buy this one, I bet it sounds almost exactly the same!
  5. black with the old no idea stamp on the sleeve.
  6. finally updated. Everything except a few packages have shipped (late payment, and the ones with tapes that wouldn't fit into a normal lp mailer). would like to be done with most of this stuff by the end of the week so I can sit around next week. also, someone buy the every time I die box set. I only like one of the lp's.
  7. how much is shipping? driving 100 miles with gas as expensive as it is, it might not be a bad idea to order online.
  8. Also they get gross. I'm guessing a lot of people on here might have only had them on for a few years, but if you give those fuckers 5 years, they end up disgusting. everything sticks to them, and all it takes is one drunk person taking out a record wrong to completely fuck up a sleeve.
  9. has that wonder years band been around for more than a year or two? I don't think I'd ever heard of them until a month ago.
  10. from someone that's been buying, selling, storing, and moving records for years (5 houses in 10 years), I gotta say the expedit is the way to go. I've owned or still own four different company's lp storage shelves (boltz, target, metal rack from the 70's, and a bookcase), and the expedit is considerably better than any of the alternatives. I also own a handful of bags unlimited boxes. The PLASTIC corrugated boxes are soooo much better than the plain corrugated cardboard boxes and not much more expensive. The plastic corrugated 7" boxes RULE, and I have a dozen of those for 7"s (which then sit on a book case so they don't look so trashy). as for outer sleeves, NON RESEALABLE. When you actually listen to records all the time, those fucking resealable bags suck. They take too much time (stupid reason), they get gross, and worst of all, if you're not paying attention 100% you end up sticking one to an lp cover or insert or something. I have a handful of inserts that have big pieces missing from those motherfuckers. Just buy the plainest lp bags you can find an you'll be fine. Most record stores sell them, and if you buy in packs of 100 it's always cheaper.
  11. also, I think it's really weird when people do this with new records, or with current bands. I get folks that hunt down rarer versions of records, because that's fucking record collecting right there, but once you have an upgraded copy, sell of the other copy to someone. Also, when you collect different colors, it often times inflates the value of a record. It's good for record labels, who basically only have to sell to 100 people to sell 500 records, whereas before they had to actually find 500 people to buy the record, but if 150 people want it, there's inflated value put on those 500 records.
  12. I had to edit your statement, but agree with it almost in entirety. I've owned more than one copy of records, but I was young and dumb, and the records were out of print and never getting repressed. Then I sold those copies, made back my money, and bought new and exciting records that changed my fucking mind. I would rather be blown away by something new and exciting than have more than one copy of a record I already love. Half the fun of record collecting is the hunt for something that you've never heard, or always wanted to hear. For a while it was a lot harder to listen to some of the band I wanted to listen to, without buying their records, so having five copies of one record, or one copy of five records was a no brainer.
  13. more stuff is gone, and everything that was paid for has shipped. around 10 packages were mailed today, sending at least 3 tomorrow. update in a bit.
  14. gonna update when I get back from the PO
  15. edit/ updated at the top of the thread.
  16. big update coming. I'm holding a few things and waiting to update until those people either pay, or tell me they're not going to.
  17. it's yours, email me plz: [email protected] I'm planning on shipping everything on Monday afternoon, or Tuesday if I'm waiting on slow paypallers. Shipping again Thursday, and then whenever I have to the following week.
  18. UPDATED JUST NOW: The Deal: I've traded on here before a bunch of times, last time I was slow and got butt fucked by the po, but every single record got there. This time I don't start work again for three weeks so I can mail the day after I get money. edit: A few of these are shots in the dark, so if you want to call me out on a high price, send an email and I'll adjust. Also willing to trade for dischord/kbd/dbeat/guitar pedals. edit/edit: postage not included. I'm cheap as hell on postage though, would rather lose a buck than be that guy that over charges on everything. 19. lol at someone talking about out of date technology on a vinyl message board.
  20. still just a shitty low-end turntable. will it play records? yup. Will it sound listenable? yes, and considerably more than some bullshit crossley. But my main issue with these ultra-low-end turntables is that talking about how great vinyl sounds, describing it as "warm", dropping money on box sets, buying 180 gram records, etc. is fucking pointless when you're putting them on a really low quality player. It makes SO MUCH MORE SENSE, especially if you're actually into record collecting for the long haul, to just hold off on buying records for a few months and save up to buy a nicer set up.
  21. I feel like not buying records for a month or two, and using that money towards buying a better turntable is a much better solution. Or just sell off all of your doubles and actually get a record player that sounds good enough to make buying over priced 180g records a viable option.
  22. don't buy. Realistically, what albums do you want to listen to through your computer? It's rare to have an album or 7" you can't find mp3's of, and computer record players are shit. Buy a real turntable and stereo.
  23. what bad experience? I was reasonably good friends with one of these guys for a while and I'm curious.
