after so many crappy Epitaph vinyl releases, i'm not buying anything i'm on the fence about until after it comes out and proves not to be a terrible pressing...
-
i'd sell the tape and the flexi if anyone wants those
i don't think i'll part w/ the vinyl
-
just my luck...
last RSD i got a RFTC record w the b-side label covering half the record...

fyi, Brookvale response to my q: This is a brand new pressing remastered from the original 1/4" reels and approved by Mike Ness. We started from the ground up with both the audio and the packaging to create the DEFINITIVE version of this classic album.
-
Brokeevale/Epic pressed at United allegedly from original analog tapes.
i didn't notice much diff between this one and the Legacy reissue from 2008, which was most certainly digitally sourced.
-
Anyone spun theirs yet?
On mine, side 2 during "Drug Train" I've got what looks like a mfg issue (or it just came scratched out of the box). Pretty annoying.
surface noise too, even after vacuum cleaning...

Speaking of original pressings, anybody have gray label Ride The Lightning on Megaforce? It's way rarer than the Elektra US pressing but it probably sounds a little better.
I have one. Def better than WB reissues. I think the Masterdisk version on Elektra might be the best one. I'm still in search of a clean copy at a decent price to compare.
the original Megaforce of Kill Em All prob sounds the best to me, but the one I listen to the most is the Elektra reissue w/ Am I Evil/Blitzkrieg the original Elektra MoP is so much better than the WB reissue.
The DCC gold CDs of MoP and RTL are excellent too, but not worth the $ personally for me.
The WB Bob Ludwig Black Album sounds pretty killer to me though. I don't have the original pressing of that, but the 33 WB reissue sounds pretty huge.

I really liked Freak Out!
This excites me.
dont get too excited, that dude is crazy.

the first 3 songs off this have not set my world on fire

oh, i didn't realize Wax was doing it as a 2xLP. I might pick that up. I also saw it closer to 50 bucks than 35.
The Among the Living WT reissue wasn't bad. Pretty close to being as good as my original.
-
I saw that Wax Cathedral is reissuing Persitence of Time soon, but it's pretty expensive.
-
i wouldn't have picked that song for the 2nd single...

i think they mean pre-2000s MoFi before MusicDirect bought the brand b/c that was a different company essentially
all my pixies MoFi reissues sound pretty good. i didn't have any OGs to compare to though and i'm not sure if i ever compared them to the recent 4AD reissues. i kept the MoFis and got rid of all the 4ADs I had.
cyndi lauper she's so unusual (although, admittedly their "silver label", which they didn't have access to the original master tapes just thier MoFi sound lab process) wasn't any improvement over my 2$ bargain bin copy (which sounds pretty good)
i don't think i have any other MoFi vinyl releaes, just the Surfer Rosa SACD.

I've been a fan since the Caroline s/t (A Reverse Willie Horton was my first white whale and first eBay purchase in 1999). I didn't care much for Meat+Bone, but this new album is pretty good. I'm digging it.
-
i'd be interested. i'm hella old school here bro. hah.
why did they do replacement copies for the vault?

the first 2 songs off this have not set my world on fire

so i've got a long wait for 99 lives...
-
i got my replacement vinyl yesterday. shrink wrapped in a plain white sleeve. will spin it soon.
-
i have the deluxe on white, yea. haven't heard anyone complaining about the black.
-
The Sweden 1st press blows the American version, out of the water.
i don't know if i'd go that far, but i do prefer the Swedish one. esp as overall package.
-
sub pop is pressing replacement copies. i wrote them asking and they put me on the list to get one. they said some, but not all, have mfg defects.
-
i haven't forgotten man, i just haven't had time to look.
i know i have a couple XL shirts around though.
-
this lp did sound pretty good except where there was the surface noise, always lame on brand new vinyl. haven't tried cleaning it yet tho. usually don't w/ new vinyl unless necessary.
i haven't listened to the 12" bonus yet.
-
yea, i was too skeptical to pull the trigger on this.
the last 2 albums have been pretty piss-poor, lazy efforts imo (from the songs to the cover art).
i stopped buying all the variants and rehash releases a while back.
PO soon: Rancid - All The Moonstompers
