  1. Some great lists on here. Many more eclectic than mine but I am what I am....I've just spun these more than others in my 20 yrs. of collecting. Off the top of my head: Bad Religion-Generator Dillinger Four-Midwestern Songs Lawrence Arms-Greatest Story Face to Face-Self Titled Hot Water Music-A Flight and A Crash Megadeth-Rust in Peace Bob Dylan-MTV Unplugged Modern Life is War-Witness Red City Radio-Dangers of Standing Still Fugazi-Repeater
  2. Dear Landlord "Dream Homes". IMO, one of the best pop-punk albums of the last decade.
  3. I've been going to BR shows since 1993 and have met everyone in the band. If you see enough shows, your bound to run into some of them at the merch table, outside the venue or walking around the crowd. I've met Graffin a few times and he was surprisingly friendly each time. I had always heard he can be a little stand offish but I've never experienced that. Jay Bentley is by far the most friendly. If you can find him, chat him up and snap a quick photo with him then let him be. Much better than having their autographs imo.
  4. This may be a little late, but I recently bought an Edwards Audio phono preamp from Music Direct. It was reasonable at $175 and sounds great. I have it paired up with a Jolida 202B tube amp and it sounds great. Highly recommended if you are on a budget.
  5. I'm pretty sure they are still going to have the D4'th of July show. I guess I'll just hit that up.
  6. If I can find a scalper. Debating on whether or not to make the 2 hour drive up there just in case.
  7. I'm in the same boat buddy. Pissed at myself for not buying tickets earlier. Should be a great show.
  8. I'm into lots of sci fi stuff and came across a mocumentary called "Lunopolis" a few weeks ago. Awesome movie. Great flick if you are into conspiracy theories, ufos, etc....
  9. NO SHIT - Much The Same played the Staring Back show I saw. What was your bands name? Did you guys ever come to Chicago? Never played Chicago. We were from Iowa and just got lucky enough to play that show. It was tons of fun. My band was called Kagero. We recorded an EP but never ended up releasing anything before we broke up.
  10. I still listen to that record daily! Other than lifetime they were playing melodic hardcore/pop punk that paved the way for bands like transit and syg. They would have fit in perfectly now My old band played with these guys and Much the Same several years ago. Both bands were great. Tons of energy for a show during the middle of the week in late fall in Iowa. Man I miss those days....
  11. You should definitely pick it up man. I think it is probably the closest they have come to a perfect Bad Religion album. Take out 1-2 songs and it is terrific. It has a great flow to it and some of the catchiest melodies they have written so far. Of course, I've been a huge BR fan since 1991 so I'm a little biased. For a band of mid 40 year olds, they really bring game.
  12. I looked at these too but haven't heard them yet. I was wondering if they were built for listening to stuff with extra deep low end? I'm not looking for extra bass in the mix necessarily. But I will check them out.
  13. Thanks guys. Those Beyer's look nice. Now I just need to save up.
  14. I'd love to pick up some new headphones for my setup and was wondering what you guys use? I've been looking at some Sennheiser and Audio Techinica models. Does anyone have a preference?
  15. I'm partial to Red Medicine but this is great too. Man, I wish they would put something new out. I did get to see them once and it was phenomenal.
  16. yeah, i live in northern iowa and it's been coming down pretty hard all day. and 40-50 mile per hour winds. makes for a good night to sit in the basement and listen to records.
  17. I really like the mix of this recording. I wish they would have thrown a few more songs on here but overall I really love it.
  18. Does anybody know if the Mineral catalog has been repressed? Or is it just the OG presses? I honestly haven't done much searching yet....just rediscovered them in my cd collection. God they rule.
  19. Gotta say: The Explosion, Fugazi, Texas is the Reason, ATDI, These Arms are Snakes, Modern Life is War, Face to Face (with Chad Yaro)
  20. Just checked out that Smodcast. Great stuff. Sound Scene Revolution has some great bands on there but most interviews are painful to listen to (Sorry Rich). I've been meaning to check out Rocket Fuel but haven't yet. I'm into ufo's, ghosts, crptozoology, etc.. so I also really like paranormal podcast and dreamland podcast.
  21. Other than furniture, everything I owned could fit in a small bedroom-when I was single. I got married and we filled up a house. Now I have 2 kids and could fill up 2 houses.
  22. What do you guys listen to? I absolutely love "Mysterious Universe" and "Issue Oriented".
  23. Thanks guys! I'm hoping its something simple cuz I just ordered a new cartridge and am missing my records.
  24. I've only seen him once and that was solo. I think the studio stuff with the band is great-most of it. But some of his full band songs sound even more urgent with just him and his guitar.
