  1. Giving this 2LP / 45RPM one a bump. I'm actually shocked that it's stagnant at 53 sold out of the necessary 200, especially with those low international shipping rates (but, there is also 46 days left so who knows).  Maybe it was posted too late in the game? I really want this one to happen because it's a 2LP/45RPM on black vinyl and not colored vinyl. Sure, colored vinyl is pretty and usually sounds decent but black has the best sound overall and many legit plants say that on their websites - like on Furnace's FAQ page. I also confirmed with a mastering engineer that masters never have to be "re-mastered for 45" - such a thing just doesn't exist. Hoping this one happens - because it's a legit audiophile release (will be pressed by GZ Media).

  2. This went up yesterday as a funding project and the goal of 100 copies has already been exceeded, but orders are still being taken. It's a tribute to David Cassidy and all proceeds will go to the Alzheimer's Foundation.  More info at https://qrates.com/artists/SofaKingVinyl/items/14834

For those who aren't familiar, Ken Sharp is an L.A. based singer/songwriter with four acclaimed albums to his credit, the single was written on the day Cassidy passed away and recorded and mixed in marathon speed. 'I Wanna Be David Cassidy' received its worldwide premiere on November 26, 2017 on renowned DJ Rodney Bingenheimer’s radio show on Sirius XM’s “Underground Garage” the day after it was finished.

Which do you guys think has the best standard black version?

Honestly, probably the 2LP 45RPM release via Sofa King Vinyl that is currently being funded via Qrates. 200 need to be sold for the pressing to happen. If you care about the best sound, I'd go for that one. It will be pressed by GZ Media if successful (same plant Blood Music uses, I believe) but cut at 45 RPM for higher fidelity. Plus, the shipping is super cheap if outside the USA.

Yeah, I saw that 2LP version as well, figured they just took the individual HQ WAV files that were also provided per individual track, and stuck them together to made SideA/SideB/SideC/SideD WAV files.

As per the official announcement they say they've provided the tracks as such:

"It will be pressed from the 24-bit vinyl masters." So the vinyl master is being cut up into four files instead of the two originally provided.

  5. Well, this isn't an old classic album or something with boobies on it....but it's still something that I think should definitely be shared here. I haven't posted in this thread yet...but I absolutely LOVE the Blues and thanks to @ColemineRecords I have a new fascination for Soul as well.

I wanted to let you all know that the album by Brock Davisson and Friends called 'Outtakes From The Soul' is getting a vinyl release. For those who aren't aware of who Brock is, he is a phenomenal Blues guitarist who just happens to be confined to a wheelchair because of club foot and dwarfism. This 2015 album apparently landed on the Billboard Blues album charts, but this will be its first (and possibly only) vinyl release.

Here's a video so you can see his chops. This guy is so inspiring! His style reminds me a bit of Jeff Healey.

  6. Not sure if any of you know who Brock Davisson is, but he's an amazing blues guitarist who just happens to be confined to a wheelchair as a result of club foot and dwarfism. He's got a lot of videos on YouTube and stuff....that's how most find out about him. This dude shreds though, and his album from 2015 is finally coming to vinyl! 75% of all profits will be donated to MusiCares.

  7. Well this one just HAS to hit the goal....this is too good not to be on vinyl. The new album from Robots With Rayguns! For those not familiar, this is some pretty solid synthwave/synthpop stuff and the first RWR album to have a vinyl release.  It is really, really good too! It's called 'Slow Jams' because it's all low tempo stuff and it's pretty good chillout music too .

200 need to be sold for it to happen, but 60 have sold in a week. It will be a 2LP mastered for vinyl from original mixes.

  8. Looks like The Native Howl FINALLY have a vinyl release for their 'Thrash Grass' EP and pre orders are up - apparently the first 300 will come signed (according to the band's Facebook page). It says 45rpm audiophile vinyl, but it appears to be a splatter...so take that as you will.

  9. Just wanted to give you all the head's up on this release that's in pre-order phase right now on Qrates. Many were bashing Qrates for a bit (especially Stateside)  because of the mailers they used but they upgraded to the sturdy kind and I'm seeing many good things being said now, no more damaged jackets! Plus the shipping cost is fantastic, $6 or less to most countries which is a big plus (usually ships out of UK)

Anyway, 100 records need to be ordered for this one or the pressing won't happen and it's half-way there right now. It will be limited based on pre-orders, don't think there will be any available after the pre-order phase is over. It would be so awesome to have this record on vinyl! I'm really into the whole synthwave / retrowave scene right now, but I'm sure I can thank Stranger Things for kicking attention to the genre up a notch. This record kinda has the Stranger Things OST vibe, but with more of a John Carpenter feel. I guess people call it Horrorsynth? Too many sub-genres to handle, but it's good stuff.

  10. Figured I'd chime in here. A lot of electronic/synthwave acts are using Qrates these days and I've come across many people in groups who got records through them. I have been following it as I was intrigued myself. I haven't seen anyone complain about the quality of their records...just their mailers! They were using the cheap UK style mailers and SO MANY were arriving damaged. But now, they are smart and use the sturdy kind...they call them "buckwrap"  mailers or something. There is a release on there right now that I would love to see happen, actually.

  11. Looks like Soul Slabs is getting reissued on standard black. It just mysteriously appeared on their site, but I'm sure an announcement will follow as the release date says Sept. I thought it was RSD exclusive, but perhaps not.

I got both those Remined reissues as well and just pre-ordered the third they  announced (Dave Hamilton). Along with The Dip limited clear 45. I friggin' love this label! I think I have five copies of the Soul Scratch 45 (and I think the band has a couple copies left!). Last they told me, they had four.

  12. Hey all!

First time posting here. I really like  that there is a Synthwave thread. I just recently got hooked on this genre, but have been a fan of EBM for years.

I can't wait to get my FM-84 and VHS Dreams LPs, I was early getting the order in but still waiting for it to ship. My first EPR purchase, but I hear that patience is the name of the game with them, which is fine...as long as I get them. I hear the FM-84 pressing is stellar, and another 500 will be pressed soon as well but they are going to tweak it so it's not identical to the first pressing.

OH! Did you know there is a Qrates campaign for 20SIX Hundred? It's for 'The Cold Rise From Sleep' album. The goal is set low at 100, it's at 49 right now. I think this would be cool to have on vinyl.
