  1. Yeah, pretty much. Its unfortunately not all that uncommon, and this record was produced when vinyl was much more of an afterthought. and I actually do know a thing or two about music production. matter of fact, a good friend of mine is a producer that had tracked Chino's vocals before. But, whatever, I guess I should have expected a negative reaction to my opinion on a message board.
  2. As has been pointed our already, everyone gets the poster. That does not guarantee you the tapes. Id email them if you need to know for sure

  4. I think the original press of SNW sounds great actually. I'll have to spin it again. I listened to it again last night. Its ok, just cant help but think it should sound better. Sounds like it likely wasnt remastered for vinyl so it sounds a little 'hot'. I do feel fortunate to have an original though.

  6. that's pretty lame. i wasn't that impressed with the sound of SNW as a double LP, I can't imagine I'd be happy with it as a single. however, I do love 'Deftones' and even though I'm proud to own an original, I'll take a chance on that reissue. Looking forward to seeing the color.

  8. RSD run wasn't 180g, was it? it was 3000, and they were not 180g
  9. i haven't heard the original, but Bernie Grundman is known for being an excellent mastering engineer, and this does sound very good. you can tell it's mastered from tape, there's even a slight tape dropout at one point.
  10. as far as mastering goes, i'd say they only ones possibly recorded to tape are the first two, but that doesn't mean they were mastered from tape. probably not. but regardless, all of these are well recorded and mastered albums that sound great on vinyl. actually, i wasn't that impressed with the sound of SNW, and if it's on only one record now i don't even want to hear it. looking at the pictures, it looks to me like only white pony is gatefold, the rest just look like folds on the bottom of the jacket. WB is known for being minimal with this stuff, so I don't see why they'd print special new jackets. and finally, I just can't for $200. I already have at least one copy of everything. I look forward to people's thoughts upon receiving this
  11. anyone buying this set is likely buying the hot topic pressings as well
  12. in case anyone is wondering, the 180 gram discs do sound pret-ty good. Bernie Grundman is quickly becoming my favorite mastering engineer. surprised but very pleased he was commissioned for these. hoping those tapes surprise my mailbox sometime soon.
  13. You've gotta be fucking kidding me. They sure do know their audience. I have them all, so if its more than $100, I just can't.
  14. Anyone receive a shipping confirmation from bigcartel? I didn't even get an order confirmation, just a paypal receipt
  15. wasn't sure i needed to get this, buuut that amazon price is just too good. bummed that my free year of amazon prime is over!
  16. They emailed us a download code a day or two ago. i assume that's with a pre-order? i got mine at the record store today. i figure for $30 a download code inside would be a no brainer.
  17. Just brought this home, listening now. I wish Roadrunner would ease up on their prices, there's no reason this needs to be upwards of $30 as the packaging is nothing special and it has no download code. However, it is a really fantastic album.
  18. Anyone considering the performance pack for the Rega, I hope you realize that the bias cartridge has a non replaceable stylus. There are several options for cartridge and platter mat upgrades. Id go stock at first and carefully choose your own upgrades from there.
  19. The debut is fine but the real deal here is the rega rp1. With this discount its only about 356 instead of 445. Superior to the pro-ject. I'm really considering finally pulling the trigger on it.
  20. Anytime I've requested a replacement it has been sent asap via one day shipping and they email a label to ship the original back.
  21. hey guys, just wanted to let you know that I uploaded my first Collector Profile to the blog: http://vinylfury.tumblr.com/post/9699045535/collector-profile-kelsey-kuther thanks to anyone who is still supporting the blog in anyway. it's been almost two months now and it's still a lot of fun. hopefully i'll be able keep up with it when school starts back up. cheers - Dan
  22. The concert is an HD transfer from 16mm film. It'll probably look pretty good.
  23. any of you that have listened to these notice some sibilance on most of the tracks? just wondering if my cartridge is tracking poorly that far inside or if these are just a little too 'hot'. overall a nice set, though. really stoked to have the The Blue Room. some of their best stuff, along with many of these B-sides.
