Pretty sure the employees steal the records from this store lol. Seen it on multiples lists that travis has posted, called and went in to find out that the records werent there.
called this store last week, when the list was posted, and they said they sold out the week before.
pretty sure you've never worked retail. inventory can often be inaccurate or take forever to update. especially if a box of shipment was marked as received and then an item in the box was sold a few hours later. it could take like a week for it to be listed as out of stock. also, records are some of the most expensive things at that store. i'm sure if employees were stealing them on a weekly basis, they'd get caught.
-
well they've mostly been touring with bands who don't really draw people who listen to this genre of music. which is both good and bad for them, i guess.
-
always astounds me how inside the box hypers somehow find this as boring or draining. if you actually took time to listen and focus you'd hear all the amazing thing this band is doing. yes the pace is different than basement, but that kind of bored indifference is close-minded man.
i don't know whether or not this was directed at both of us, but i'm a huge fan of both native and grown ups. i primarily listen to ambient and drone. i still found their live set boring. i'm not sure how giving them another chance and buying their album is being closed minded.
-
every time i've seen this band live, they've bored me to death; however, i feel like i should give them another shot. grabbed a clear copy. anyone know when this is scheduled to be released?
also, i asked this in the last cloakroom thread, but does anyone know whats going on with Native? they kind of just vanished last spring after saying "looking forward to doing things the right way in 2014"
-
i only liked a few songs off their first album a few years back, but i'm really liking this single. hopefully the rest of the album sounds like it.
-
i just listened to the whole thing. its right down at the bottom of the list with violent waves for me. at times it seems like its going to sound like OLG, but then just drags on and doesn't go anywhere. bummer.
-
did anyone in the US receive this yet? i'm just confused because my order status says "shipped," but i never got an email or tracking number.
-
the whirr songs have definitely grown on me throughout the day. i suppose i wouldn't mind an EP full of songs like this, but i hope they never permanently stray from their slower paced gaze.

how much less would it even be without the poster? if its only like a $3 difference i'm just keeping this order
-
yeah, they've clearly stated everywhere that there's a new song and pre-order on 10/24
no need to be a cunt, i can read. sometimes websites stream new singles ahead of time and on the actual PO date you get the single as a digital download with your order. hence why i stated "here's to hoping"
-
after reading/hearing everything available so far, i really don't know what to expect. i was a massive fan during the OLG era (Juturna and OLG are my favorites) and i've been let down by everything anthony green has been involved with since the last TSOAF album, which i loved.
the clip sounds cool, and it definitely sounds better than VW; however, if anthony sounds and writes like he did on VW for this release, i won't like it.
here's to hoping we get a stream of a single before the pre-order
-
I personally think this is their best record to date, or at least on par with Juturna. I love it.
people said this about Violent Waves and that album was terrible, imo. i do hope you're right, though.

that new song is like a perfect mix of downward years and guilty. really good.

Not really seeing a valid reason to complain about the packaging there. It came out right after Distressor so it looks like Distressor and that's their logo so it's on the label. Some labels and bands use the same label for all their releases that's nothing new (Up, Sub pop, etc.)
i'm not sure how that makes any sense. if a record comes out right after a previous release, it looks the same? i'm not losing sleep over this, i just don't see how its an improvement over the original pressing.
-
I admit it is kind of cheap how they re-used the labels from sway and the back cover being strikingly similar to Distressor but it feels more special that this is the record the band wanted us to hear in the first place.
i appreciate this part. but the fact that it was advertised as "the way the band wanted you to hear and see it" and then showed up looking very similar to at least two of their other whirr releases but with a flimsier package is just a little disappointing. i prefer the OG artwork (i think that jacket is slightly thicker as well).
the new mix/track listing is great though. no complaints about that.
-
received my copy of pipe dreams redux today. i'm really disappointed with the flimsy jacket and poor artwork all around. listening to the MP3s of the new mix right now. will comment on the rest later.
-
ordered redux from the kickstarter page a month or so back and I got my tracking number today. I'm really excited to hear this. the new track listing makes much more sense. not sure about the artwork though.
-
i think i'll stick with the regular version. it isn't my favorite release by her and i prefer the retail artwork
-
fucking hell i was at that show and didnt't bother to even look at the merch
-
Speaking about the record of course, because live neither Nick or Loren sings, but instead Shy Ronnie.
is shy ronnie the asian one? the only member i know by face/name is nick. somebody clarify, please
-
i wish it would have been another really ambient album like alien observer but i'm going to give this another listen tonight
-
it really does suck that this leaked so early. i'm excited to hear it and will be buying it on the release date for sure.
-
i agree with both statements. it just seems weird that they would release such a great record and vanish without any sort of statement. sargent house's website also lists them under the "inactive/alumni" section.

you really don't know what you're talking about. there's no guarantee that inventory will be accurate at any store with any company for an abundance of really obvious reasons. i feel like one does not even need to have worked in retail to know that.
