  1. Vinyl Collective, where people say "still haven't received mine" regarding a shipped record that isn't out yet!

When we get a lot of orders for the same thing, (i.e. all orders for one Cloakroom record) We can batch print all the labels at once because they are all the same weight. This saves many, many hours of work with the only downside being we can't automatically email everyone the tracking #s. Sure, you might know know exactly what day your order will come in, but you will get it sooner than if we didn't do this, so it seems worth it.

In this situation if anyone wants their tracking number they can also of course email us and we'll send it over.

when some of us live in big cities, it helps a shit load to have tracking numbers. that way, we know when to look out for the package so that it doesn't get stolen or so that our property managers don't assume the package has been sitting there for days and send it back.

also, if people are posting that they've received theirs, others are obviously going to state if they haven't.

  2. you're right, it looks like it took about a month for it to sell out; however, it was during the week of the album stream that it sold out. so its very possible that the majority of those copies were scooped up by already existing fans of the band and label. which is cool and that's how the world works, but it also shut out a lot of others who were willing to buy it at the time.

  3. no, i totally get that. but surely that can't be the case every time they press something. like i said, the first pressing of Heaven was like 250 copies, sold out insanely quick (before most people had a chance to discover the band), and took six months to launch another really small pre-order.

couldn't that have been avoided if they pressed more the first time around?

  4. Mhmmm we ended up doing closer to 350, but the majority of them are going to the band.

wasn't the first pressing only 250 copies? so, ~600 copies across two pressings for a band that's getting really popular? still pretty limited, in my opinion.

don't get me wrong, i'm a big fan of handful of your releases and wouldn't even have heard them if it wasn't for your label, but its just a major turnoff knowing that i have to be stalking the internet during the first week of pre-orders just to get my hands on a physical copy. nor can i really recommend friends to the webstore because there isn't anything left for them to buy most of the time. myself and a handful of others would have gladly bought that Bilinda Butchers album six months ago had the 250 copies not sold out before most of us even had a chance to listen to a digital copy.

  5. this is one of those artists who i'm glad i got into before people starting flipping records that were pressed in quantities of thousands for absurd prices. i'm pretty sure there was a big repress of his discography around 2009/2010 and i was able to pick them all up locally.

it sucks that people are asking that much though considering its not very limited
