spinning my copy now. it sounds awesome. i'm pretty sure this is a slightly different mix than the digital version (for the better)
-
i paid $5 for this LP.
-
well isn't there still a female vocalist doing backups on these songs? it sure sounds like it.
-
i don't have anything yet either. kinda lame.
-
i never understood the whole "real setups are too expensive" argument. those people could have just saved up money for an additional month or two and bought something better. or at least laid off on buying expensive records to save up.

grime appears to be out of stock. anyone know if its available elsewhere?
-
lol why did my comment get -2 votes for being right? i'd also like to know how a record could get "chipped" inside of an LP mailer. even if a record were packaged poorly, how could it be chipped by sliding around inside of cardboard?

True. SRC still has them available I believe.
Its literally the same pressing except HT's is red.
I hate that SRC's aren't in the jacket, they're separate and in a plastic sleeve. Annoys me a little.
would you rather have your jackets arrive with seam splits and ring wear?

They played the new song today at Pitchfork and George said that it "comes out next week." Not sure what he meant by that, but they were terrific and very well received.
i caught them at the bottom lounge on friday. he told that audience "next month." hopefully something changed and we'll get it sooner.

i think the last song kinda sucks, but this album is probably my favorite right behind The Resignation. this one is way more melodic than the last two albums and i bet it'll be really awesome to see these played live.

i first saw them about two years ago on that tour with russian circles. i really enjoyed their stage presence and was pretty blown away by the whole thing. i think one of whirr's guitarists was touring with them at that time (it wasn't nick). whoever was drumming for them at the time thanked me for picking up their record after the show and made it seem like the band wasn't being really received well by the audiences at each show during that time. george was kind of a dickbag and seemed completely disinterested in communicating with anyone. for what its worth, i wasn't trying to start a conversation, i was just asking questions about the merch.
i saw them again, for the a second time, a few nights ago, and got a totally different vibe. i thought george's theatrical (??) movements and hand motions were kinda lame. their performance reminded of larger arena bands who do the same exact stuff every night as if it were all scripted. to be fair, they have been touring non stop for a year straight, so that could explain why most of them looked like they were just going through the motions. though the posts above about george feeling like he's "higher class" and pursuing sexual fantasies around the world are nothing but pure speculation, i would find him even more lame if its true.
aside from all of that, they played the new song and i thought it sounded pretty awesome.

so, this album is awesome.

i really want the Shirley Temple Tidal Wave 7"
-
those clips just made me insanely impatient.
-
this band sounds like pennywise

am I the only one who thought the Around vocalist was their worst? she wasn't a bad vocalist, but i thought she was the most bland out of the previous girls they had.
-
anyone know when these are shipping? i think the band has them at shows
-

Yea I was referring to mail order only, like the Black 180g they did for Around, that was exclusive to Graveface.com.....
I know the first retail pressing will sell out quickly and a new colored press will come so its still nice to grab the first press....
Now if only I could get my hands on a RC copy! I know my only hope is evil bay
(I don't have enough money to afford the subscription sadly, so praying ill find an ebay one thats not too inflated, otherwise not worth it)
sidenote: since someone mentioned Nothing's Guilty... I feel like that record is soooo overrated and Whirr blow Nothing out the water! (my two cents)
i kinda have to agree. i really like nothing's downward years, but i can't really get into the full length. i think its just more hype than anything and that there are much better newgaze bands out there. guilty just sounds like hum and old foo fighters to me (sorry!). there is something super ethereal yet depressing about whirr and that's why i think they stand out above the others.

well that's $20ppd with tracking. that really isn't bad.
-
excited for that chicago show on the release date. what a lineup.
-
i figured it was noots. awesome track. i may have to pick up a copy now. i think clear and red go better with the artwork than that green.
-
might as well just post what they have in this thread because i'm curious too

i honestly don't see how its some sort of major departure from the last two albums, but thats a bummer. i'm personally really into it.
