thanks a lot for all of the advice guys. don't worry about offending me, i see all of your points and agree. i'll definitely share them all with the band. we really are just trying to have fun with it but you're right about maybe having to take ourselves a bit more seriously. i'm definitely going encourage the rest of the guys to play some local shows during winter break as much as they don't really like our music scene. i've been telling them since the beginning we should but they're a bit pretentious about it. well thanks again, and i'll let you guys know if things start working out.

hey guys, i'm in a band called club for growth. our myspace is in my sig. we've only been together about 4 months but we recorded a 5 song EP in august that you can hear there. anyway how do unsigned, unknown bands like us go about getting to play shows? we're based about a half hour from new york city, but unfortunately i'm still a senior in high school and the rest of the band is at different colleges. we want to play as many shows as we can whenever they're home from school, though. so anyone from new york city have some advice? do we contact venues directly? promoters? any help would be really appreciated. sorry for the n00b-status of this post too haha. thanks!
