If I found out about Thrice through these last two albums, I probably wouldn't like them nearly as much as I do. That being said, Palms is so much better than TBEITBN. It'll be interesting, given time, to see where this ends up in my rankings.

You think so? I've listened through a few times and it'll take a few more days to digest but this feels like it may be their weakest release, it's not really doing it for me upon my first few listens.

This is a phenomenon I’ve recently come to terms with as well.  I burn out on songs ahead of time or fall SO in love with a song that nothing else lives up to it & makes for a disappointing album.  I try to listen to no more than a song ahead of time & limit how much I listen to it.

I just don't have the patients anymore, I think it has a lot to do with me not having the time/finding good music anymore, I used to find a band/song what have you and delve into the rabbit hole but that was in college, now that I'm married, having a kid, and working full time I rarely have time to dick around and find music I really love. So when a band I love like thrice says they're releasing an album but not for 3-4 months I live in that song until something new drops. This summer has been a bit of a let down for me musically, aside from the two alkaline trio songs, thrice song, and the boy and the sea album it's been pretty boring which is why I'm looking forward to a new song. I envy you guys who can wait that 3-4 months for the full album to drop without a sneak peak of it!

I'm the same way...I've stopped listening to pre-release songs from albums/bands I like to keep from them becoming stale.

I have such a hard time doing that especially with bands I love. A lot of times with albums/bands I don't know well or there's some hype for I'll wait. For example with the boy and the sea, which recently came out I read a little hype for it but waited for the full album to be out. It's easily one of the best albums I've heard this summer. I fell in love with the song the wolf but the album is great. With certain bands like thrice, every time I die, blink, silverstein, and the like I will fiend for new songs haha

I try to hold off on songs from an album I’m excited for. What about you?

With a band like thrice, I listen immediately, I'm a huge fan, so I'm always looking for the next new song! Only problem is, for example, I've listened to The Grey so much by the time the full album gets here I'll skip right over it on the album listen or it'll be stale to me by then. So that ruins the album experience for me.

  5. Will be using this thread to post up more stuff later. My record purchasing has come to a major halt as my wife and I purchase our first home and welcome a little one in January so I'm trying to get rid of bulk and stuff I don't listen to/nor will really listen to again. Really just going to be looking for what I paid for most of the stuff. Shipping will most likely be same or next day.

Oh hey, it’s been like 2 years but the deluxe version of PS IS happening. Got to see the packaging yesterday and it looks super rad, so despite the label dragging ass hard on getting these made I’m stoked it’s finally happening. Trying to have proper info out within the next month or two.

Aside from deluxe version of PS any new music on the horizon?

It’s definitely my least favorite of the discography up until that point. I just checked out the new EP and anyone claiming FMM vibes is reaching. Like really reaching. Maybe the time signatures are reminiscent of some early songs but that’s about it. It’s definitely solid for what it is though.

Agreed, I listened to it a little this morning on my run and it's a bit on the boring side and really doesn't remind me of anything in their early discography.

Yea I don’t think it sounds like 4mm more like guilt show with more distortion.  I like it, sounds better than there are rules

but my “go to” get up kids record is “Eudora”.  The covers are awesome, the demo or 7” versions of ten minutes, forgive and regret, and I’m a loner... are awesome.  It’s just a great compilation and whenever I wanna listen to them that’s the first one I put on

I love(d) eudora, i remember buying it while doing some christmas shopping I think my freshman year of college  (december 2001) and not knowing what the hell it was but was excited to see new tguk on the rack at media play. Close to Me and New Found Mass were my jams! I love that haunting piano sound in the beginning of New Found Mass, the version on Loveteller is great but the reworked one in my opinion blows it away!

I'd pick up the first two DC albums for sure, but speaking to TGUK, OAW miiight be my favorite album from them. I'm one of the few wierdos that loved it from the first listen. It was the first album I ever bought on release day and I thought it was a huge step for the band. 4MM, the eps, and STWHA were amazing, but OAW is so good!

I still have a digital copy of OAW and GS, I'll give em a listen tomorrow when I'm doing lawn work. It's been a hhhhhhhhot minute since I listened to them. I've been blasting swiss army and places at the country club pool i run during the summer while cleaning and make sure everything is good for this weekend's guests and nostalgia has me by the balls!

I don't hear the 4MM thing either. It's a fine EP, I'm not super into it though. They lost me when guilt show came out, but everything prior is pure gold.

They lost me at On A Wire I was balls deep into TGUK even though Eudora but for whatever reason i couldn't get into OAW and just kinda lost interest. OAW isn't bad it just never clicked with me. However being older now I feel like I fell out of touch with most of the bands I grew up listening to at some point. Which is probably why I'd buy the shit out of swiss and places hahaha DC lost me on A Mark. The eps he put out drowning and summer, i believe were awesome! I'd even buy those on a 10 or 7.

I drank the dashboard kool-aid back then too and as much as I loved those albums back then they just haven’t held up for me as much as the get up kids or hot rod circuit have

Never got in to HRC (I know, I know boo hiss), TGUK, saves the day, julianna theory, and dashboard we're my sitting at home alone thinking about a girl jams in hs lol I still fuxxxx with circa 99-04 tguk, std, and dc but anything post 04 I just can't get into. Any thoughts on the new tguk ep? I kept reading that it harkens back to the 4mm and stwha sounds but I don't hear it at all, it just sounds like tguk, older.
