  1. i didnt ask because i watched him win it on ebay. Fat Mike put it up for a contest, the dude who won it sold it on ebay
  2. here are two examples of what i call inside-out. some people may call it swirl, but i think its fairly distinct. technically this is what that is (A-side one color / B-Side another color) and you get the bleed through on each side, as would be expected when using a somewhat liquid medium.
  3. we just did a record with solid green splatter on a translucent green record.. it came out gorgeous. we also did one that looks like a beach ball, which came out alot neater looking than i thought it would.
  4. $25 isnt bad for a 2xlp import when you think about it.
  5. yeah i've become a test press retard as well. My only defense is, they're made first from the stamper.. so they're technically the best sounding version of the record you will ever have
  6. asbestos records. our biggest CD releases were from Treephort, and the High School Football Heroes, and a couple comps that sold pretty well. We have 3 releases out from Bomb the Music Industry! on vinyl, and two more in the hopper, including a split with O Pioneers!!!. We should also have CD/LP out from Sonic Boom Six, and some other neat stuff we're currently negotiating
  7. after doing about 35 cd releases over the years, the first 3 vinyl projects i've done are so much more fulfilling. Im really happy the market is shifting and vinyl is becoming really viable again, especially outside of the Hardcore community.
  8. this is true of anyone who runs a record label. Theres about 100 releases i would like to do this year, but i'm going to have to settle with around 10-12... its time just as much as money. Trying to orangize say 50 people to toss $30 each (which is still really lowballing pressing costs) isn't something thats likely to happen. If theres a project you'd really like to see done.. why not contact virgil and be like hey i'd love to see this, i'll plunk down $1000 of my own cash to help you do it. Its really easy to say "record X by band Z should really be on vinyl... why don't you do it?" instead of stepping up and doing it yourself.
  9. If theres really a release you want on vinyl, why are you going to push it on Virgil to release it? Why not employ some of the wonderful DIY ethics and go about putting it out yourself? a collective really isnt a collective if its just one dude doing everything
  10. sire is owned by a major now i do believe.
  11. much better than burnt wolf is the discography project on the nofxwiki.net site. if you're gonna do a better record nerd... categories artist / album / color / pressing info the search command on record nerd is abysmal.. you must be able to do multi-criteria searching.. ie specific album + color especially
  12. theres also a white vinyl version of "white people for peace" coming out on WEA UK, for anyone who doesn't want to drop $30-$50 for a black or red tour copy
  13. i wish i could find a place that still made flexi's... they're pretty cool. i have the first TMBG release that was only released on a flexi

  16. 7" is generally more correct, just because most punk 7"s are 33rpm these days and not 45rpm and yeah anyone who pluralizes vinyl with an "s" just makes me cringe.
