  1. I agree...not a casual fan release to buy, but a die hard thing...or if you are just a huge Lanegan fan. This is the last set of recordings the band did, but it never saw the light of day because, sadly, there was no record contract to be found for the Screaming Trees! Great music, but nothing like Sweet Oblivion or Dust. A very mellow and comfortable sound on this last record.
  2. Barrett Martin has a PO link on his website to buy the RSD release of Screaming Trees - Last Words directly from Sunyata Records for the US. This is only a UK release for RSD at the moment. http://barrettmartin.com/index.php?page=sunyata-records
  3. You should really consider picking up Blinking Lights and other revelations on vinyl at Eels shop. I know this sound weird, but it's only $99 for four vinyl records, a nice book and a great packaging. The record is a masterpiece and they found a few copies to release on the website recently. When it came out, they were selling for over $200. Once these are gone, they are gone...but the record is brilliant and worthy of the price!
  4. Screaming Trees - I NEED A UK FRIEND TO HELP ME OUT! This isn't available in the States and although I don't know the pressing amount (good indication whether or not it will be readily available after RSD), I'd rather just paypal somebody some cash for the record, postage and a few pints for their labor. Let me know if you can help me out!
  5. An I meant to quote the Screaming Trees quote from above. It sucks is a UK only release. I live in Seattle....if there ever was a place that record should be sold in stores, it is here!
  6. Yeah...I'm with you on that. Unfortunately, my dumb ass lives in Seattle and this is UK only release. I guess I'll be paying Ebay prices for this little gem! Do you have any idea how many are going to be pressed?
  7. or check www.popsike.com for all of the Ebay sales of vinyl records.
  8. Cake Box Set??? I checked their website which confirms it is coming....(wasn't there too long ago) http://store.cakemusic.com ...but it doesn't mention RSD! I wonder if this will also be made available from their website....which is pretty typical of CAKE. They sold the 7 inch set and colored variant of their last record exclusively from their website. My thought (and hopes) is that they are releasing 900 copies for RSD (so you can grab it at an actual store), but more will be available directly from their website. Again...I hope so, because this release will cause people to riot the store. 900 simply is not enough and I want a F'n copy of this without paying Ebay prices.....the fine folks from Cake probably have better sense than to exclude the 5,000 other people that want this! I just wish CAKE would tell us before RSD so I don't spend my left nut on this on Ebay!
  9. I love to see: 1) The Cure: Join The Dots - B Sides and Rarities pressed to vinyl in a box set. It's a treasure chest of hidden gems...such a great compilation. 2) Bob Marley - Songs of Freedom - repressed to vinyl...that thing is expensive and hard to find... and I want it!
  10. It's Friday MOFOs...listening to Paul's Boutique! Who can finish the lyrics from memory.... "Well I rock a house party at the drop of a hat and I beat a biter down with an aluminum bat. A lot of people they be jonesin just to see me grab the mic, they been staring at the radio staying up all night..." Put the record on and finish the lyrics up! Come on peeps...it's Friday!
  11. I'm with you on that....E doesn't like whiners and he WILL kick your ass. It's a fact! Not fiction. To quote E: "Don't got a lot of time, don't give a damn, don't tell me what to do, I am the man" -or- "You little punks think you own this town, Well, someday someone's gonna run you down"
  12. ...don't forget about the Lithograph! Eels always release a standard black variant for wide release, so I bet you will find an online store like Amazon that will get you the record (just not clear and without the bonus second LP) at some point, so if shipping cost is your hang up, you'll have another option soon!
  13. I say you are both right. First and foremost, I'd buy the deluxe edition. If you like Eels, it's worth the money and a pretty fair price for the amout of swag you get. However, if you just want the record, the shipping cost is ridonkulous. Media Mail would get the job done for $4. With tracking it's still only $6 for media mail. It's silly to charge $12 just to get it to you in a few days. I think the whole point of preordering is so the company can send it to you earlier for a lower cost...we are talking about using Media Mail and sending if 5 days before the release date vs. $12 for sending it out 2 days before the release date. Sure....it's only a few dollars...but clearly people notice this. But I'd still buy the Deluxe Package if you know what is good for you! If you are record flipper, Eels always hold value and Eels only release the colored variants in very limited numbers off their website, so get the double LP while you can, because it will be gone soon!
  14. OK..the pre-order is back up and official now. It looks like this is a 2 LP release on clear vinyl only through the website (much like Eels last few releases). The second LP does contain all of the bonus tracks. Good stuff...
  15. My bad...bonus EP of four songs...not a 10 inch, it's a 12 inch EP. Not Domino records ether....man, I'm baked.
  16. I've been waiting for this release. This one is a no brainer preorder for vinyl enthusiasts. Extra 10 inch ltd edition gatefold. Domino just has the best packaging and roster right now!
  17. The site is now down...it looks like the pre-order wasn't supposed to be on the website just yet. Someone make big mistake....
  18. I don't agree with $12 shipping, I was agreeing that it was "wack". If you read the post, I said most likely the shipping will come down because I know Go Merch uses Media Mail and the actual website that I found to buy this off of isn't 100% completed...I found it by accident. Once the Pre-sale is officially up, I'd bet they get the cost to ship this correct.
  19. I agree with the shipping cost. Go Merch is usually pretty good and they haven't announced that the site is actually "live" yet (I went to check on whether Blinking Lights box set was still on sale). I'm guessing the "pre-sale" isn't live yet, as the Eels have not officially announced it yet either. If you go to the UK merch section, it's only a half built site, so they must be tweaking the site and the announcement it's available will be soon coming......so I'd bet the shipping cost will do down, because the record is priced right at $16. Plus, the 2nd LP is a bonus LP only available at Eels store and will surely sell out. ...but that Deluxe Bundle looks great...I want that poster!
  20. Eels new record, The Cautionary Tales of Mark Oliver Everett is up for pre-order in a clear vinyl variant (exclusive to his website) with a few different bundle options. http://eels.gomerch.com
  21. I don't think there really could be a bad person that has been mentioned so far....Grohl's great...Coyne is great....it would be nice to see someone that actually has a passion for vinyl or that has been around long enough to be able to help the cause. When I look back at the supporters of RSD, I see The Cure, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Jack White and The Flaming Lips, Lee Scratch Perry as being pretty consistent as contributors year after year. A lot of great artists show up each year, but not a whole lot show up with releases year after year. Robert Smith as actually a pretty funny guy and a standup gent and The Cure have had an exclusive repress every year, but maybe I'm just excited about the new release...who knows? I wonder which band(s) have contributed the most releases to RSD so far...who pressed the most amount, etc? Anyone know?
  22. With The Cure releasing their new record in a few months, I thought Robert Smith would be a shoe in. Beck wouldn't be bad as well...he's got a catalogue and a new record.
  23. Just curious who everyone thinks might be the ambassador for 2014? I'm gunning for Robert Smith...I think that would be cool!
