  1. My take on the new Relient K album, Collapsible Lung:

There’s nothing wrong with a band wanting to make a pop album, none what so ever. When I heard CL was going to be more of a pop album I was excited… I mean Matt is a king of pop! Sure you could look at the music and say it sounds overproduced, but that’s not really a big deal. If you’re making a pop album that naturally comes with the territory. To me the problem with this album are the lyrics, something I never thought would be an issue with Matt. There’s almost no substance to anything, and sound like they’d fit in any horrible Top 40 song!

If you’re going to do a pop album, do it with some integrity! Look at fun.’s Some Nights or Tegan and Sara’s Heartthrob… they’re albums that have fun pop music but lyrically run deep.

…I’m not giving up on CL, but I am disappointed and can see why Ethan is gone and the Jo(h)ns want nothing to do with this mess.

    Absolutely.

A tiny tiny part of me hoped that it would be one of those albums that I would dislike but grow to love. Then I realized, when has that ever happened? Never.

Looking at the iTunes reviews and hoping RK gets the picture.

Couldn't agree more. Realy, REALLY hope they don't try this again.

  2. 1) not an LP

    2) considering the band wants to move on from it, and since the fans only care about the new shit, i'm gonna say probably not, at least not in the immediate future. also i'm secretly hoping they don't because i want to be pretentious and be one of the few people to have both variants.

i'm sure you'll be fine. that thing won't get repressed until (if) it becomes like blink's Buddha. at least it's approximately one millions times's better than Buddha though.

  3. with only 3 albums, it's darn hard to rank. especially with 2 albums as baller as wp and rfts. I do freaking love catholic girls though. it's like work in progress pt. II to me.

yeah i'm busting your chops. i love both albums a lot, i just can't imagine myself ranking RFTS last because it's what made me love them in the first place. but i guess we'll find out!

Just my personal opinion. I like the sound of GR better than RFTS but WP has better more relateable song writing

  4. you guys that are trying to exploit/cheat this system are the literal worst and deserve all the bad karma coming to you.

still waiting on that "Exclude dreamover" checkbox when creating a thread...

See, this is where I'm confused. One person says they don't charge till ship, another says they hold it till it ships.

Credit cards and debit cards are processed differently, as are each different payment type. look below.

If you use a credit card you're not charged until your order ships.

    this is true

  5. I asked Soupy about this because I was really looking forward to those little dedications too, and he said that some of the ones on this album would have made his life awkward if he was honest as to who/what the songs were about, so he opted to not do them at all over doing them dishonestly. I can respect that, but I agree that those were really cool read on the rest of their stuff.

Also one of my favorite part of these records. Too bad.

  6. Ok, based off past month of testing, I can confirm the following:

It is now 1 code per CANCELLATION day

Example: you order 3 copies of same record on January 1st, the order is cancelled feb 1st. Only 1 code is issued. It doesn't matter if 3 different records were ordered, if they are cancelled on a single date, only 1 code is issued.

Same applies if you placed seperate orders on different days (say jan1st and jan2nd). If BB decides to cancel them both on feb 1st, you are only sent 1 code

So stop ordering 25 copies of panic - pretty odd!! Lol

All you are doing is selling out records and bringing this to their attention

Just place 1 order for 1 record per day.

    You're welcome

  7. Yeah man, the retargeting is pretty crazy, seems like they are running a fairly sizable campaign. I don't have any problem with the business model, I'd be up for something like this is it could match my tastes and seemed credible. But HOOOOOOOOLY SHIIIIIIIT does everything about that company seem off. Shitty stock photos, really bad copy, creepy customer acquisition techniques, hyperbolic band descriptions and touting everything as colored low-run vinyl.

I have to think bands would be downright embarrassed to be associated with them, and that can't help them either. This is what skateboarders must feel like when Slim Jim® puts ads in their magazines.

    It's gotta be high schoolers.

  8. yeah, its rough. i feel like a crack head and one click of a button will get me my fix, but i cant. gotta wait on this one.

I respect you for this. But you're crazy. :) Can't believe you've made it this far. Don't go back now. Or maybe do. Oh man. Just Roam the Room. You'll be able to stop there. Ha. Yeah Right. Like Crack and Pringles, you won't stop at one. Yup. Citizen, Crack, and Pringles.

  9. I hate to be a buzz kill but I don't really hear anything special (or even anything remotely interesting) in "Catholic Girls," save for the drumming. Am I listening to a different song?

It's a The Dangerous Summer song. That's what makes it special. The whole idea of War Paint is that there's just this super consistent dynamic onslaught of drums that just never let up. Each song sounds similar enough to be cohesive. None stands out far and away above the others. I don't know another album whose worst song is as close to its best.

Other than that, Catholic Girls does remind me of the first time I heard Work in Progress stream on AP. Enough to intrigue, enough to feel there's most likely something there. Now that I know how Work in Progress fit into an album, I can tell Catholic Girls will do the same. Haven't listened to a single premiere as much as this song in a looonnng while.

  10. Ok so I just don't understand the love for static prevails. Clarity is more understandable but still. I didn't listen to them back in the day but that does give me fresh new ears. Same thing for me for brand new and tbs. started on second or third album, still listened to the old ones and love them. Just doesn't feel the same here. For what it's worth...
