  2. Im just curious how often you guys listen to OST LPs?  i have had a few in my day and they got played never.  I can see the nostalgia factor of movies from your youth (80s for me) but isn't it easier/more enjoyable to toss on the movie every year or so?

I guess if i worked from home and listened to records all day every day, these OST LPs might get some or more play, but overall OST LPs just seem like a one and done type of thing and not worth the money.

I am sure i am way off base with my thinking.

  4. I wish my dog could have been part of our wedding. that's awesome.

Here is my old lady... Her name is Stella and i adopted her when she was about 8 weeks old, and she will turn 10 in August.  This is from the bring your dog to the ballpark day a month or so ago.

Then my wife surprised me with this little fella about 3 weeks ago.  He is a handful of craziness. His name is Markley and yes he is named after OMM.  He is a pit/poodle mix, so i am interested in seeing how he turns out.

and one last one from a few days ago.... after 3 weeks they are finally becoming friends.

  5. All i gotta say is if you decide to get a dog please please please adopt and do not go through a breeder.

Agree!  So many good puppies in shelters.  Plus you may find that shelters may even offer free or discounted spay and neuter programs, micro-chipping, and discounted obedience classes.  All of those things could help if costs are a concern.

The SPCA and Humane Society have been great to me as an adopter/foster/volunteer over the last 10 years.

  6. Ok so I didn't want to start a new thread but need some advice.

Quick backstory. I mostly grew up with a moody cat. My wife grew up with 2 different dogs. She's a huge dog lover and left home permanently at 18. She really misses having a dog, and for the almost 6 years now we've lived together she's still wanted one. Our lease at our current place (3 family home) that we signed back in 2010 said no pets. We've been good with our 90 year old landlord and finally got an OK to get a dog.

The problem is I still don't really have the desire to get one. I'm also trying to secure my first full-time teaching position and feel that this might be overwhelming for some reason. Don't get me wrong I love dogs (and cats too) but just feel that two people working full time in Brooklyn won't provide enough space/attention for it. The idea of crating dogs all day also seems kinda wrong.

I'm mainly looking for advice about just caring daily for the dog while working and costs associated with them as well as other relevant things I should know. Also I feel I need a quiet medium sized breed that won't tear up shit if I do come around to wanting one. Convince me people.

As someone who just got a new puppy a couple weeks ago, they are a ton of work and he chews everything.  I don't think there is any getting around those issues. I have been spoiled over the last 8+ years because my old dog (pitmix) is a fucking perfect angel who did nothing wrong ever.  Looking for an already trained 1+ year old might be smart.

At the moment, the new puppy is being crate trained and is locked up about 9 hours a day due to our work schedules.  I have someone swing by to let them out around lunch time, however even with that break he is in a cage alot.

As far as costs. Vet bills are pricey right off the bat, plus toys, treats... Then you will need monthly flea + tick meds which can be like 50-65 bucks per 3-5 month pack (depending on what kind you use. sorry i dont know exact prices, my wife buys all that stuff) and food which runs 30-60 bucks for a big 26 pound bag (depending on your dog that can last about 6 weeks).

Now that i have had a dog in my life for the last 10 years, i will never be without.

  7. 6/6 - Weezer

6/7 - Weezer (Tampa Bay Rays Post-Game Concert)

    6/17 - MxPx w/ Allister

7/23 - I Am The Avalanche w/ SoMoS, Rust Belt Lights, Teen Agers

8/19 - The Offspring w/ Bad Religion, Pennywise, Stiff Little Fingers

    10/24 - Brand New

    10/31-11/2 - FEST

Ah i was at the rays - weezer show!  it was better than i though it would be.  I was so excited i go those leather seats right behind home plate tickets ($275 a pop) through work, but failed to pick up field passes for weezer and they were sold out by the time i got there.  shitty.

I also got the offspring/bad religion pit tickets the other day. stoked on that.

    Also going to

    Discount: -$15.30
    Total: $28.70 USD

  9. I finally picked up a "Peace Thru Vandalism" picture disc when they had them on sale for $5 last week. Actually sounds pretty good for a pic disc. And I do need to pick them all up, and will eventually. I don't like "Stepped In" that much, but I want it first just because it's pretty difficult to find. Only copies I ever see for sale are in Japan, and I'd rather just wait until I see it for sale in the US.

I had no idea Stepped in was hard to come by. I picked up a used copy for 11.99 a few weeks back at a local shop.

I have most that i need except Fear of the.... LP, Sheena is a punk rocker 7", and maybe oi to the world.

Dont think i need to bother with the country album.
