Yeah, just got one

I took a closer look at the LP and there is in fact one long, thin scuff on side B (I don't have the brightest lights in my bedroom, so it didn't catch my eye when I played the record originally). Thankfully though it plays fine, so I'm ok with keeping this copy. As far as the actual music goes, I liked it. I'd be lying if I said I had that immediate connection with it like I did the first time listening to any of The Hold Steady's albums, but it was cool in a low-key, mellow kind of way. Lyrically it fits alongside Stay Positive and Heaven is Whenever. Musically it has an a light, alt-country feel. Going to need a few more listens before I can really make up my mind about it.

I've been loving the Signals Midwest lp ever since I put it on my iPod. Anyone on the fence about buying it should do so immediately.

My blue copy came Friday. No wave or warp at all, looks fantastic... I haven't listened through every track yet, but thus far it sounds great. In terms of the physical record, there are some light pops here and there, but nothing major and no more than you would hear on most new records. In terms of the music, you can definitely hear an improvement in the overall quality of the sound. I have owned this cd for all 10 years it's been out and I had an original pressing of the lp a while back... I think it should go without saying that this is the best this album has ever sounded and short of re-recording the entire thing, I don't think it could get much better at this point.

I might have to get that blue too...

Haha. Ordered one earlier today. Maybe if this goes well, they'll release Makin' Hay as a 2x LP...
