I have a question... maybe I am no vinyl expert (I am definitely more knowledgeable than average person). On a 12 inch record, my understanding was the general maximum for a side was 22.5 minutes. Making it about 45 minutes in length. Now, I am aware that you can extend the length a little bit but it generally deteriorates the sound.
Now, I just ordered 2 albums I really wanted on discogs (really rare ones). Now I didn't think about this until I received them. I ordered the following 2 records and their lengths.
3 feet High and Rising- 67:24- https://www.discogs.com/De-La-Soul-3-Feet-High-And-Rising/release/79899
De La Soul is Dead- 73:30. https://www.discogs.com/De-La-Soul-De-La-Soul-Is-Dead/release/408450
Look at those lengths... average side would be what 35-37 minutes? Both of these albums are SINGLE LPs. I have albums that are 20 minutes less and been put on doubles for crying out loud! Now both records have a lot of reviews on discogs and are rated well, so that eases my mind a bit. However, I am still worried about overall sound quality, isn't it going to be a significant difference, or is there some type of special vinyl it could have been put on to avoid a double LP?
I just got them in mail this morning and haven't had opportunity to listen to them, should I be worried about it. Just confused on the whole matter. I linked the discogs links to the pressings in case someone wanted to check out the pressing I had. Ease my mind and confusion!
Thanks!
Both of those clock in at right around 60 minutes based upon track listings. This does push the limits of reasonable. The comments on 3FH are overall not positive.

Holy Fuck that Holy Fawn!
This is so good. My seal of approval, its an exhausting listen!

this would be nice as a decorative touch, i think, especially if someone had a separate area for storage and playing and wanted an alternative to a crate or flipbin, or something. not practical enough to be primary storage. you might try and mimic the clean laminate look of an ikea shelf for those who want something to match.
edit: yeah im glad you are raising some $$ on indiegogo but your price point is wrong for collectors, I suspect.

are you sure its a manual TT? does it just stop with the needle in the groove or does the sound stop and the record keeps playing?
-
nice, i grabbed the last /35 super excited. I loved to be found so im really looking forward to this

Both Hopes and fears and Under the Iron Sea still sealed $35 PPD to the states as F&F

1500 for each of the reissues. i am not sure on vitc
you sure about that number? he said there would be enough for the Patreon members but "not much more"...only about 360 Patreons. I suspect it is a higher number if its been up for a full day now and still not sold out though
-
albums good and it sounds good its clearly their aesthetic i have no problem with it through a pretty decent TT and open ear headphones prolly will spend a bit more time with the mp3s but i dont feel the mastering is dramatically worse than GoE in my opinion

Oh man that sounds terrible (in regards to the lathe situation) I can only imagine what they thought they were getting.
well it was a bit hard to write the whole "i mean lathe cuts are literally made of paper plates" email but live and learn i suppose
-
awesome i shouldnt have waited for the preorder title to be updated. probably wont be too hard to pick up a tricolor though, im super excited

Also the reason I ask about how it would be currently graded is I like to keep my discoggs catalouge up to date and as descriptive as possible. And who knows, far down the road I could resell.
You should inspect this record at the time you list it then, shouldnt you? Plenty of listings are like "visual VG+, plays like M-" or something like that. Buyers appreciate that detail.
Also, I only list as mint if its sealed or I have visually inspected an unplayed record (I believe it can still be mint) but I almost always list conservatively. I got burned once with listing a lathe cut as "Mint" because i had never taken it out of the sleeve. You can imagine how that went down

lol yeah i guess this is everywhere; i cant imagine it would be "limited" then good catch
-
hes so talented. i like this a bit, i think im in. anyone know how many are pressed?
