  1. I called last week and the girl in the store was able to see it on the online system and said there were 500 of them... But the page must have not gone live yet. Probably gonna be an any hour now kinda thing
  2. Just got mine in now. Short story, those of you who ordered from Amazon will have the best time with this release. I kinda wish I stuck with my Amazon order. The set looks gorgeous, the colored vinyl is really nice. They look more swirled/marbled than the solid neons they appeared as in the promo photos. Some clear must have been in the blend too as they are semi transparent. they look like candy. Now I want candy. Unfortunately, SQ is shit. Not that I had great expectations or anything. And of course that has more to do with the original recordings themselves than this record set. But the pressing is pretty garbage too. Only on side 1 so far but... "Off center" would be an understatement. The pitch instability is really getting to me, and I'm getting anxiety from looking at my tonearm dance like this. This thing literally has more than a quarter inch of deviation on rotation. Oof. Vinyl isn't the quietest either. If I didn't order this from an indie I would not hesitate to ask for a replacement. I'm going to see how bad the next 11 sides are.
  3. Hmmm. Didn't realize all that stuff... Definitely weird. I'd shoot them a message to clarify (also keep it on record as to what their response was) you never know, could just be an honest mixup. Worst case scenario, they try and fuck someone over then PayPal comes in to save the day and makes them pay return shipping
  4. My favorites are a lot of the classic stuff that I probably shouldn't have grown up on, but did anyway. Looney Tunes, Merrie Melodies, all those mgm Tex Avery shorts, etc. even the older stuff from the van buren, fleischer, ub Iwerks studios... Basically anything 1930's-1950's. Aside from the cultural references everything is still fresh 70 years later. The style of the animation was so much more fluid and detailed than a lot of the stuff I see being produced today - like artwork - and while I'm sure the new mainstream stuff is enjoyable, most of it reminds me more of late 90's homebrew flash animation than anything else. Just doesn't appeal to me. Anyone interested in animation history should pay a visit to Jerry Beck's blog.
  5. I wish we could replace the soundtrack to smash bros with this
  6. I don't think so. The photo in the listing clearly shows the records and the title says LP boxset. The [audio CD] tag is just a common thing tacked onto the end of music items from e-commerce sites who were around in an era when the only music items really being sold were [audio CDs]. Keep in mind a lot of this stuff is automated. There wasn't some guy typing out that product description and listing title. It was simply copied over from some other POS site. Nothing to get worried over. Considering the ebay bucks one could get from that purchase, and the fact that there's no tax, that doesn't look like such a bad deal.
  7. I was just examining the warp this morning and it seems like the sort of thing hah might flatten out over time in storage - might even be a good candidate for one of those flattening contraptions since the warp is still slight enough to be manageable. Its otherwise excellent condition makes up for it I think
  8. I'm pretty sure it was ltd to 2500 or less. The 5000 number has to be split across vinyl and the digital package. I'd say it's pretty likely this sold out already. They hyped up this release and there's a lot more than 5000 people out there who are into the fastest selling game in vidya game history. Mine shipped from bullmoose a few days ago supposedly so I'll probably get it within the next couple of days.
  9. The LP is miles better sounding than the cd. Dynamics in full swing. This is what a modern rock recording should sound like. Available for a bit less than the cost of a new copy, although, it's just as good. Disc was well taken care of. Played on a high-end playback system. Original sleeve and insert included. Jacket still in shrink - gatefold never opened. Perfect opportunity for someone to add this to their collection if they've yet to do so. Asking $15 - includes free shipping within the U.S. International members - please pm me so we can work out shipping costs to your country of residence.
  10. Managed to find this exact quote. Likely came off some dusty old reel. Cheapest tape available. Strands all popped from fast winding. I can smell it now.
  11. So while we're all on the topic of Daisy - has the opening hymn ever been identified and traced back to a certain performer or release? I've heard Jesse maintains a collection of weird tape oddities and to me this sounds like "found footage". Like the cheaply/locally produced cassette recording sold at your local church circa 1978 that has your friend's aunt on it that nobody outside of a 3 mile radius would ever have the opportunity to hear.
  12. I'll probably end up placing an online order for instore pickup anyway. All the vinyl at my local HT is usually abused and trashed. Shame.
  13. Ah yes, thank you for the reminder. That's something that should be pointed out - the one box label was transitionary - Parlophone JUST dropped the Yellow & Black label - and only available for about a year or so on EMI records before all the labels were changed over to the EMI 2 box. That puts this no later than 1970. They are sought after and are among the rarer label variations. One box monos were pressed at the very end of mono records being made available, in low quantities, and those can fetch some hefty prices. This also features one of the rarer jacket variations with both mono and stereo catalogue numbers printed at the top on the back, and at the bottom - "This is a mono recording" - even though that it is not.
  14. Here is a photo - my apologies for the glare on the inside of the high gloss gatefold 30sec sound samples are available upon request - segment of your choosing anyone with any questions should feel free to PM me
  15. Also, not that it matters a ton but since the standard press is 180gm, just wondering if this will be as well?
  16. Here's to hoping you are! Sometimes the simple approach is the best one.
  17. Travis maybe you can confirm that this is identical to the black copy, or if a recut was ordered for the new pressing? Surely we don't want some kind of "so you tried to put a fire out, but you used ON THE TV" situation... that and the fact that the mastering on the original was top-notch.
  18. Hnnnnnghhhh just because I was there to witness daisygate and loved every second of it I will support the fuck out of this release. Kindof on the fence but I'll probably end up buying it anyway. Pro: it looks awesome Con: the black vinyl sounds effing amazing (I really hope this uses the same plates) Con: sentimental attachment to black vinyl Pro: my black record was pressed waaay off center on side 1, this one might not be. Pro: I can give my black copy to a friend who doesn't have this album yet. So yeah the positives outweigh the negatives so far.
  19. This is it folks. The original tube cut masters from 1967, on a black label Parlophone pressed in the late 60's/early 70's. This is the ultimate stereo Pepper. Yes- it is sonically identical to a 1st pressing as it is pressed from plates produced using the same master lacquer (the -1/-1 cut) And yes - it contains the infamous gibberish runout groove. Never could be any other way! The mono is generally my go-to for listing, but when you want to pull apart every little detail of what went down in those magical, distant recording sessions - the stereo is the way to go. Letting you hear into every detail of the 4 tracks on the original session tapes that made it into the mix. The frequency extension of this mastering is perfection... Deep and powerful lowend that gives this mix the balls it otherwise loses from odd placement of the bass/percussion in the stereo field. If you've never heard this version of this classic LP, you are in for a treat, and if you have, you are still in for a treat. If you've only ever heard this on CD, or your vinyl experience has been limited to the 2012 remasters or old US vinyl... You are REALLY in for a treat. Make no mistake, this is a well-recorded technicolor audiophile spectacular in every way. The tonality is simply spot-on with this mastering. Vocals are truly in the room. There is a reason why remaster after remaster have come and gone over the years and simply cannot compare. Condition: I would conservatively playgrade this as VG+. Very clean, and undistorted sound from top to bottom, beginning to end. There are a smattering of small ticks which wre extremely unintrusive and low in number. There is a series of 3-4 revolving pops at the beginning of With A Little Help From My Friends - I'm guessing a past owner may have tried to cue up the song and dropped the needle. As well as 1 similar pop at the beginning of A Day In The Life. Again - Fairly unintrusive. Any other small ticks would probably clear up if given a proper cleaning - the disc has never been cleaned while in my possession, simply dusted off with a carbon-fibre brush and played as-is. I did note some distortion in the sound of the 15khz tone at the end of the disc. It's very possible that a cleaning could elevate the condition of this disc to a NM- in my opinion. There is a fairly pronounced dishing/edge warp that is very visible on side 1 - however, I was able to track it without even a hint of difficulty using a cartridge with an extremely high-compliance cantilever - these can be super finicky with warps, so I am very confident it will play without trouble on your setups as well. The warp is much less pronounced on side 2 and appears to be fairly flat on the turntable when played with a weight/clamp in the center. The Jacket: Generally in pretty damn good shape, very few markings. Somewhat warped as well but it's still very presentable. I'm not sure if this is the case but it may have been printed earlier than the record was pressed and used for this production run? It features both mono and stereo catalog numbers. Quality is generally as good as my 1st pressings. Which is to say, outstanding printing quality. Beautiful gloss. Super suitable for framing, whether you display the cover or the beautiful inner gatefold - still crisp at the spine as it opens after all these years. It features a standard white EMI style sleeve, and not the red wavy sleeve designed by The Fool. It DOES, however, include the original Sgt Pepper cutout card - all intact and uncut. This would make the perfect gift for the holidays for a Beatle fan who deserves a real gem in their collection - whether that fan is you or someone else, that's your choice! Asking price: This record can be yours when the price is $64. This includes shipping to anywhere in the US. I will ship worldwide - message me and we can work it out! This truly is a wonderful record anyone would be proud of, and it would definitely be a keeper in my collection if I didn't already have a top-notch complete 1st pressing. But really, if you're listening to it - this is just as good! A splendid time is guaranteed for all!
