  1. That's why I think there's to be something more to this. It's not like anybody who's buying this doesn't already have the album. So maybe it's remastered or there are bonus tracks included or whatever Also, maybe the paper bag is made of a pulp made from all the $1 bills and they're finally giving them back
  2. No fucking joke I was actually working on a chiptune cover of the full album, "Deja Nintendu" for a while and I was pretty into it. I'm not so great with NES trackers though, kinda wish someone much more skilled than I collaborated with me on it. I got partway through Sic Transit Gloria and called it quits. It was to be entirely faithful to the NES audio hardware as it would actually be programmed for NES hardware, not "chiptune" music like is commonly used to refer to synth-heavy covers, or covers which are programmed with NES trackers but use more audio channels than the hardware is actually capable of. The plan was to release it as an audio download, and also a ROM/physical cart that played the full album while there was a user-manipulated 8 bit version of the cover art. I suppose this is also the first I've ever told anyone of it too. So there you have it.
  3. Maybe there are demos with the download? Maybe there is hope it isn't mp3? It can't really be that lame and cost $40
  4. I don't doubt the cost of licensing for a moment. They do have a big goal to reach but it's not impossible. This is our chance to prove to Nintendo there is a legitimate market for their soundtracks on vinyl, or even just in the US. I'm not even particularly a fan of Mother, but I backed today. Vote with your wallets people.
  5. I think there are so few I don't really love that it would make a much shorter list to compile those. I always hear about the Japan soundtrack to Sonic CD being vastly superior to the US one, what's up with that? I happen to really like the US one, and the Japanese soundtrack doesn't even have sonic boom! I've never heard it myself so I have no clue, I'm just curious why it's consisdered by so many to be so much better.
  6. On a completely unrelated note, if anyone has the Sonic R soundtrack (sega Saturn version) or a link to it, please PM me. Turns out my disc is not in the greatest shape - I've been able to recover all tracks without error, with the exception of one. I'm pretty sure this is within the realm of legality, not that anyone cares, but if anyone can help me get that one track back, it would be suuuuper appreciated and I'll be sure to throw something cool your way.
  7. Man. Don't get me wrong, as a fan myself I love what is being done here, more than most people here probably realize. I just don't agree with some of your business practices. I have no ill-will towards you, but I can't sit back and pretend something isn't fucked up when it is. I just want to see things being done better. I think the fact that some of us can get so heated over these soundtracks shows how passionate we can get about them and how deep of a gap there is in a market where they aren't available. It's nothing personal. I've bought bootlegs in the past, but this is not something I'm willing to support any longer - from anyone. As somebody who knows firsthand how difficult it can be to secure licenses for some titles, it just strikes me as wrong to have the hubris to disregard the need for one. I may point out from time to time when I think something sucks. I think it's shitty that it's so difficult that there is no legal way to make these real. But I also think it's shitty that you are doing it regardless of the legality. Maybe a little part of me wishes I could do things with a similar disregard, but also maybe a big part of me doesn't want to get a summons/likes my asshole being as tight as it currently is. Like I said, nothing personal. I'll give credit where it's due. As a fan, you are putting a lot of effort into these, and they are probably better than what most others would be capable of - you know your shit with the audio. I would have done these almost the same exact way as you are if I were in charge of these. When the titles which you have officially licensed come to market (and I hope they come to a larger market than just a secret email list, or all that licensing will have been for naught), you can be sure that I'll be 100% behind someone who does them right. As for whatever records have been made in the past... I've already shared my opinion on those. There's nothing left to say there, I'll refrain from commenting on the matter further. I'm not okay with it, nobody cares, and that's fine. I only hope that it's seen as constructive criticism.
  8. This has nothing to do with making sure the creators get their money, that is not how music works, that is not how the law works, that is not how the world works. Maybe it should be how it works, but for decades past, and decades into the foreseeable future, it isn't. This has everything to do with the content owners being paid for their property. Nintendo not owning these particular recordings probably made it much easier for a license to be obtained. The content owners have the right to allow who they choose, to use their content how they choose. It is completely irrelevant if they obtained ownership of that content by creating it or by signing a contract. It's totally super cool and punk-rock to say "it's for the people! We can create what we want with this. I can sell it as I please. The money should be going to the guy who wrote these songs" But that is not the way things work. The Easter bunny isn't real either, sorry. Just because the music isn't owned by who you wish owned it doesn't give you the right to bootleg it, nor does it give you a reason to discredit the work done by others to the fullest extent of the law. If you're this salty about an official, properly licensed release, simply because it competes with your illegal product, maybe you should just make a margarita with it, and reconsider things. Chill.
  9. While the Triple Crown press is not without issue (I have the red vinyl) I do think it is the best of a bad lot. The MoV issue does not sound quite right to me even though there is cleaner high frequency content in the cut - by far the biggest shortcoming of the TCR pressing. I will not even bother to validate the AFS pressing by comparing it to the others, it's a miracle that thing came out even resembling the album in any form. It's better in frames than on turntables. I wouldn't mind seeing someone like MFSL giving the record a shot - and being that every pressing has been a licensed release, it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility either.
  10. I don't know how much of this can be attributed to groovewear, but the copy I briefly owned sounded like absolute garbage - it was misgraded by a Discogs seller who "only played it once", neglected to mention it was on a Crosley though. So there was a moderate amount of persistent surface noise, and underneath that the audio was quite distorted. If that distortion is not inherent in the cut itself, then you will be hard pressed to find a copy of the original without it unless it is sealed. It seems that nearly every person who owns this record owns a Crosley as well, if any tumblr/instagram picture I've ever seen of this record is any indication, or going based on people I know who own it. Unless specific details about the remastering process are given I wouldn't expect this to sound any better or worse. Not that it really could sound much worse. That said, it's easier to take a $40 chance than a $400 chance. I understand your concerns, but this is far from an audiophile recording. If you're expecting to be blown away and amazed by hearing this on wax, don't.
  11. Possibly. That said, Can't say I'm the biggest fan of the game as I've never played it, my knowledge of the series goes so far as SSB. Which probably isn't very much. But I definitely support the work that is being done here and I'll be sure to back the kickstarter when it goes up and snag the record.
  12. Mother (earthbound) OST incoming 1989 Arranged version - previously a Japan-only release Ship To Shore phonoCo. This record is actually licensed product.
  13. Not sure if kidding but sent him a PM anyway, still available if he doesn't want it
  14. There were reported sound issues with the last round of mono Hendrix. Jusy something to beware of. But here's to hoping Electric Ladyland is next!
  15. Welp. Guess my Disney picture disc collection is gonna be incomplete. I'm all for the ones which haven't had soundtracks pressed before but I guarantee an original press of Cinderella will sound better than some digitally sourced picture disc. Probably cheaper too. Also think the artwork on that one is the worst one so far. *shrugs* eh.
  16. 1st ed. U.S. Take Off Your Pants & Jacket CD with Yellow Pants design. Not vinyl but yeah there's enough Blink fans here I guess so why not. The red green and yellow CDs all have different bonus tracks at the end of the album, after 182 seconds of silence. These were available upon release for a short time and were soon replaced with the standard version which had the 3 colored dots on the disc. I had the red, I had the green. Now all I have is the yellow. Recent check of ebay&Discogs shows NO copies of this available for sale Will trade for the Brand New "Sowing Season" CD single. Or $25 in my PayPal.
  17. Gonna wear a deja tee for that exact reason. Count me in for a enshaqfu shirt if it happens tho
  18. Being that it actually comes with a sticker sheet it would be pretty hilarious if it does include that I am so sad the Shaq Fu reference was lost on me. I am ashamed.
  19. If licensing is secured for upcoming titles then what is the purpose of not speaking about them now?
  20. Implying Triple Crown hasn't felt like printing money for the past 5+ years
  21. Listening to mine right now, well, my rip I did yesterday. Feeding it to the DAC... It isn't just game audio files upsampled and written as CD audio. Actually done right. Sounds good, not bad for a promo CD. Thanks Nintendo. It'd make a cool 4LP but due to rights issues it'll never happen. At least not with the same tracklisting. Japan also got a Mario Kart 8 2-CD set earlier this week. Edit: I would like to add that the Ashley song from the Wario games (disc 1 track 21) makes me want to blow my brains out when it comes on in the game, even moreso when coming out of my speakers.
  22. I'm buying it for a performance art piece - I will be turning them into bowls just outside the shop, and collect vials of tears from all the weeping fanboys who show up 4 hours late as they watch me. I will then dye-cut the special jacket, by which I mean I will dye it with their tears and then cut it into small strips, which I will contain in the newly-made Deja bowls.
