  1. Also Out Black Friday You can check out a low bitrate stream of one of Panzerbastards tracks here Review of Tenebrae's debut 7"+CD via Razorcake TENEBRAE: Self-titled: 7” + CD Many hardcore talents make up Tenebrae, but as to this new band’s standing in relation to their collective history—members of The Unseen, Blood For Blood, Slapshot, The Street Dogs, and Sick Of It All, and maybe others, still—Tenebrae’s self-titled EP has the most in common with the first two mentioned. On the four new tracks, Mark Civitarese’s vocals recall a bit of his melodic range with The Unseen, though the singing here achieves something harder and darker. And while there is some commonality with Blood For Blood’s old school roar-along breakdowns, the sum of Tenebrae’s parts, to my ears, congeals into something with more thrash and metal than the prior hardcore songwriting the members are known for. I dig it. I definitely recommend this release for fans of any of the members’ earlier work, but this is an excellent start for Tenebrae in and of itself. Grab the colored vinyl (blue or red) with free CD included. –Jim Joyce (Jailhouse) Out Sept 9th everywhere! Reviews everywhere, restored/remastered back catalog. Vol 1 of 2, then a brand new record! Touring the states in 2015 for the first time in almost 10 years. Out now on vinyl format, out Sept 9th on expanded edition. Classic LA punk rock, still going strong after 30 years. On tour now with The Vibrators, and then a 2 week stint by themselves. Razorcake has been covering the hell out them lately, check out several live reviews on the site. Vinyl format is out now.
  2. Cash grab, marketing scheme. Anything on pink sells like crack, very little of any of that pink "Awareness" stuff actually goes towards anything. Actually bummed me out that FAT would be a part of it. Limited pressings, and only a buck per record actually goes to charity. And their more expensive than other pressings of the same album.
  3. exactly, I'm kinda looking forward to this "vinyl boom" to end. Most true music fans, especially in the independent/diy community have always pressed records, never stopped. Be nice to get things for normal prices again, and not have the plants clogged up for months upon months to get new releases out. Once the major labels quit pressing every variation of Johnny Cash/Pink Floyd/Beatles, and every other unnecessary re-issue, things will open up and get back to normal hopefully. And the hipsters will go away, it'll be back to how it was 10 years ago. Not that I don't hope people stay interested in the format, it's just all the unnecessary stuff that gets pressed and clogs up the plants for actual new releases and such.
  4. lol, I just saw the investment part. The market is getting so flooded with vinyl in a few years they'll be like cds are now. All these expensive ass records will lose value, certainly not gain any.
  5. Yeah they really are, especially Dave and Trae. There is an odd predominance of genuinely decent/nice people in the street punk/hardcore scene oddly enough. I run into more assholes within the pop punk scenes and such. Kind of back asswards haha.

And finally, for any old people in here that remember the band F. Duke Decters band. Who's members have gone on to join Dave Lombardo's band AMEN. This is the final material ever from the FL hardcore band. Limited to only 150 copies (7") on 3 colors of wax. (yeah not a cheap release). Sorry for the long ass post, I'm never online too much anymore, and got 5 records coming out all around the same time.. I know this place has changed a ton, not sure if anyone even knows who these bands are? Anyway.. Love you OI!
  7. solution: Press you own stuff. Rehashing old pop punk from major labels is a bogus way to sell records. ETR is more like a copying machine than a label. Take an old ass cd, put it on big colorful format, pay the major (who likely doesn't give a shit about the band in the first place) press 500 copies at Pirates Press=profit. It may be monetarily beneficial to run a "label" like this. But it's far from an actual label. To think that this guy makes money off this horseshit is depressing. Is there really that little of a demand for new music? Instead of paying licencing fee's he could pay for an awesome band to hit the studio and put out a great new record at a reasonable price. also lol at folks that think the bands get paid first when they sign to a major. most bands leave majors in major debt. On the flipside should a label own the rights of a release that they advance recording, touring, promotional and numerous other cost's? Hell yes. Otherwise all labels would not for profit ventures. I know most people here don't know anything me or my label. But we retain rights for 5 years, or until the album recoups, whichever comes later, and then revert it back to the band (if they want to). Also Fuck Absolute punk and the douche fucker that runs that place. Like Scott said also, licencing original recordings from bands works out great for all parties involved as well. Especially nowadays.
  8. I think it comes from the fact that this board, once upon a time was drastically more geared toward punk and independent releases. Over the last several years it became not much more than a place to pick up rehashed major label licenced stuff. Stuff that's incredibly easy to sell. Everyone has a "label" and feels like it's just a lot easier to licence something that was popular at one time and put it out under a different label name. One stop shop type labels. Doesn't look like new bands or punk rock or anything get's represented at all here anymore. No hate, just an observation, I used to post on here in the first few years until all the Virgil shennanigans started happening, and it ended up being nothing but Hot Topic represses and (no offense) but "nostalgic" pop music. Complete 180 from what the board once was. Probably a lot of OG people still here, that would actually buy new music, and stuff that isn't a sure bet sell. Labels like this are risk free. Step 1. take cd. Step 2. send cd to get put onto a record and packaged at the plant in one stop shop style Step 3. Post it on VC at inflated pricing Profit. No advertising needed, no need to provide tour support, no need to do band statements, send off for reviews, or getting media coverage etc. I don't think most people consider stuff like ETR as a label, more as a format changing machine. Turn cds into records. Same with SRC. Take cds, put em on a different format=profit. Most of the hate probably comes from people that have labels that are ran by people with an appreciation for music, as opposed to easy money and less work.
  9. Old school CA punks Fang and Symbol Six. Single sided 12" 45rpm split. Silkscreened B side. All brand new material (Fang does do an awesome cover of Riot In Cell Block #9 Only 400 copies for RSD.
  10. Yeah only the CD format comes with the bonus track, not the vinyl format, not nearly enough room. It certainly wasn't advertised as such. People can think I'm a dick or think whatever they want. It certainly arrived as advertised. Contrary to possibly what some may believe we actually care very deeply about single thing we press. And the only complaints I have ever seen is from this board. It's extremely rare that I have ever had any issues whatsoever about any orders at all. It just sucks when someone has an issue with something, and instead of contacting the person or label, they just tell everyone that so and so label sucks, or ripped em off or whatever. I don't believe the first guy at all. And no the customer is not always right. You can ask just about anyone that has ordered from us, we toss in test pressings now and then, always get free stuff, if the case that something does happen we always make it up as quickly as possible and make sure to hook it up nice and fat. Some customers aren't worth pleasing, and I am totally fine with some people never ordering from us again. If they are a dick I don't want anything to do with em. Running a label is hard enough as it is without having some entitled prick crying about something instead of being a halfway decent person and dealing with the problem directly us. I'm as nice as can be to people and go over and beyond for anyone. The guy above that thought the LP had the bonus tracks, he can shoot me his address and I will gladly shoot him the cd format. The first guy I don't 1. believe him and think he is lying. 2. even if he wasn't, why is the first thing to do when you had a problem one time with some order from 6 months ago to tell everyone on a message board to be careful. It has bad implications. It's just not a cool thing to do. Man up and contact a company about your issue before you shit talk them. Jhook, there was obviously a misunderstanding about the vinyl coming with the bonus tracks. Out of over 500 copies of that record, this is the first I've heard that it was supposed to have bonus tracks on it. Please do e mail and let us know the address, I'd be very happy to shoot you the cd format. This was way too long of a post! But yeah, to the point, our customer service to people that act like assholes sucks. Our customer service to people like the first guy consist of typically of a reply something to the effect of "Fuck off, go get the mp3 or get it from your local store if you want to be an asshole". Some people are not worth dealing with.
  11. Who the fuck are you? Maybe you should E mail if you never received something, that's what normal people do instead of posting on a message board. Also You're a liar, we don't even ship international. Check the website, it's pretty fucking clear. "WE DO NOT SHIP INTERNATIONAL" pretty big at the top. So fuck you, quit making shit up cockfucker
  12. Quicksand: Slip Poison Idea: The Fatal Erection.. Circle Jerks Group Sex (not really needed, but sounded awesome I thought..) and I'm going to be that asshole and toss in A Global Threat: Until We Die 200 gram remaster/re-issue Pinkerton Thugs: Pain And The Pinkerton Thugs remaster/reissue
  13. Actually pretty sweet setup, tags, pic uploads. All kinds of things I have no idea about. I was banned back when Virgil went on a banning spree. Kinda doubt I know anyone on here anymore.. been years.

  15. Your right, I'm sorry. He's entitled to keep peoples money if he wants. What he does on his own time is his business,a nd we shouldn't interfere with his ripping people off and bad business decisions. Let's start a kickstarter for him, and help him get back to pressing shitty records, and not paying people.
  16. Not sure if you saw the VC for life thing, or the giftcards, that are apparantly not valid, or the 2 year pre-orders, or his goal to travel to 160 different breweries this year, or the fact that he owes labels money from years ago. Or that he fucked over Interpunk, ILC, and God knows how many other places. I agree, he has had some pretty shitty business moves. History repeats itself! Good guy, backed hard
  17. If you want to get banned, better trolling is a must. Not sure what you mean? I don't really care one or the other, I just signed up to see what the crazy shit was about. I don't really like Minus The Bear and 25 variants of of some mediocre alt rock record or whatever. Anyway, I came, I saw, this place sucks.
  18. Was the entire year of 2010 a holiday? Long vacation. Got a lot of E mails to catch up on!
  19. jailhouse got banned as well, he's on the VLV boards...
  20. Not sure if this will get me banned? Seems like walking on glass over here! But he owes a lot of people I know, a lot of money. I'm really really suprised that it took like two years or something like that for a few people to start to get publicly angry.
  21. Did all the people who posted images and such get banned?
  22. This is actually how I found out about this place.. Apparantly a ton of people got banned. I'm from VLV, and saw a few post on there. oi
