  1. It's really tough finding a plant that actually gives a shit and can crank out mass quantities as well. I wonder if they were looking for milky clear this time versus the crystal clear ones before. I love the way the EPs and the S/T album look--almost like discs of glass. I'm not as much a fan of these. Still really wish they had been able to match the pink case with a translucent pink variant like they originally wanted. Would have been so cool. But I guess they weren't able to make it happen.
  2. OK here you go. You'll have to turn your head sideways for most of them, it looks like--Tinypic's UI is seriously dogshit Also I guess I didn't take a photo of the book. I can tonight if you want. And now one of it spinning on my new (to me) set up--I recently upgraded from a Rega RP1 with acryllic platter and Ortofon 2m Red to a Pro-Ject Xpression III with acryllic and Ortofon 2m Blue. She siiiiiiiings! But now of course I want a better phono preamp to really hear all the things and feel all the feels...ugh. The struggle never ends.
  3. Box Set review below... been trying to post photos of my box set but not having any luck finding an image hosting service whose links are allowed on this board. At this point i figure everyone's seen its contents, so I kinda gave up. If anyone is on the fence and wants to see, I can email... let me know. I really like the way they laid the box out, FWIW. Each piece fits into a pocket of cardboard that sits on top of each other in layers, if that makes sense. Cd at the bottom, then the book on top of it, then the vinyl on top of that, followed by the letter at the top just underneath the box lid, all contained within the lift off pink plastic case (sadly the corner of my case came a bit cracked). My vinyl is milky clear (not crystal clear like their previous vinyl releases have been). No streaks of black. Vinyl sounds good! The book was a little underwhelming. Mostly just b/w photos of varying degree of quality. Not anything I will likely feel compelled to look at again. The A4 letter that is included in the box is a Seuss-esque bit of rhyming prose printed on white paper in pink ink and is a personal note from Matt Healy. He nods to the lyric "Don't You Mind" from the song "Me" on Music For Cars, which is apparently one of his favorites (they often still play it live). I like the way he accomplished the nod: "The things inside this box, you'll find, are very similar to "Don't You Mind." He also includes the original drawing of the EQ settings they sent everyone via postcard if you were in their snail mail database, saying "...for that's the sound this sound should sound." I guess some might say the box isn't worth the pricetag. The letter was the coolest bit of it. I sort of expected it might be signed but it is not (don't really care, but some may). So yeah, that's my quick little review of the box set. The pink plastic case certainly makes it stand out on the shelf of my collection and i think it's great collectors piece if that's your thing.
  4. True but then the radio button to select shows black. I dunno. I figure if it was pink it'd say so like the UK universal store does
  5. I was stoked on it being pink, though. Looks like UO's is plain old cassette black.
  6. Looks like full album pink cassettes have surfaced but apparently I can't buy them from the USA. Anyone able to snag me one and I'll reimburse cost+shipping? https://store.universalmusic.com/the1975/*/*/I-like-it-when-you-sleep-for-you-are-so-beautiful-yet-so-unaware-of-it-Cassette-Album/547P0000000
  7. BanquetRecords.com has signed copies of the LP right now that ship to the US for only $8 USD or so more than US Amazon is charging for their white, in case anyone's interested in a signed copy on (I assume) clear. http://www.banquetrecords.com/4767014
  8. That would make sense. Do you recall where you read that and when?
  9. I hadn't heard about black; thought there was only Clear (1975 store) and White (amazon). I think someone said there are flecks of black in their clear, however.
  10. Actually their manager had been tweeting that preorders would be arriving on release day because people were asking; otherwise I wouldn't be complaining. I get that you probably weren't aware of this and so I likely came off as a newbie throwing a fit, but I'm not new to the world of online ordering, shipping, or its delays. I am however not a fan of being told one thing yet experiencing another, and this is on the heels of finding out after spending a ton on this box set that they replaced the translucent pink vinyl with clear with no explanation. I get that they don't need to give one, but it was a bummer, as is being told I'd get this on release day because I ponied up early. So yeah, I feel like a little frurstration is justified, but i'm over it. I'll have it tuesday and I look forward to it.
  11. in what feels like a circumstance of absurdity, my deluxe box set won't be here until Tuesday (even though I preordered back in fucking december). But I can post pics of that once I get it if people would be interested. Loving the new album. Such a broad spectrum of influences and creative style. But all so succinctly them, still. I'm really impressed.
  12. Same. Missed it by like an hour. At least it's still showing up in a search of the site...hopefully that means there are more yet
  13. Crap. If these go back up and someone can snag me one, I'll pay you for shipping to Albany NY 12205. Let me know. I was already passed out and missed it again.
  14. Got it. Definitely let us know if you see the pre-order button go live again! I was bummed I missed it last time around. I'll refresh periodically and do the same. Thanks for the heads!
  15. I might be wrong, but did it ever get taken off the site to begin with? I noticed it was still viewable well after the ability to pay for it was removed. Hoping you're right, but I'm doubtful...
  16. ahh shit. I was going to buy it yesterday but couldn't find my RED card (trying to save on shipping). Card in hand now. bummer. anyone on here end up with one?
  17. i was thinking the same thing. i believe it's something new for them, since historically they're stocked with whatever variant is made for general retail sale.
  18. Shit! You're right. Even the limited edish box set now says clear, even in the UK store. That sorta sucks; I was stoked for the trans pink.
  19. The two new singles are very different, both from each other, and from what the band has done previously. I posted a Setlist.fm link a while back (in this thread) that has some live videos showcasing 4 other songs that sound much more like what was on the last album. I think it's cool they're trying new things; 17 songs gives them the room to and still have "safe" songs that are also good (like those 4 live ones, in my opinion). Personally I think UGH! is amazing, but I get that not everyone wants to hear The '75 doing R&B.
  20. yep. The deluxe was $142 with shipping to NY. After Euro to USD conversion, it would've been $82 USD plus shipping if I could have ordered it from Dirty Hit in the UK instead. I feel robbed ("Robbers" maybe was a foreshadowing title borne of self-awareness of the pricing on this new album?) Oh well. I found live videos of 4 other new album songs with very good audio on a setlist.fm page for their 11/28 date in Manchester and i LOVE THEM. So much better than "Love Me." So I'm all in. Here's a link if anyone wants to check those other songs out. FYI it's the same songs they've posted imagery of handwritten lyrics for via twitter. http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/the-1975/2015/manchester-academy-manchester-england-5bf29bd0.html
  21. Any news about a US Preorder? Doesn't look like Dirty Hit is doing shipping to the US, so I'm not able to order that deluxe box set.
  22. i am missing their vibe circa the ep's they did before the last full length and hope they at least don't completely abandon their melodic, anthemic choruses completely in favor of this new club/pop direction. I can get down with some Love Me- and MONEY-esque jams as long as they still do big ballads and such like Settle Down, Robbers, etc. 17 tracks is a lot of space to hopefully still have a broad spectrum of songwriting represented, so we'll see what happens. I'm in for the box set regardless bc i'm still currently quite the sucker for this band.
  23. According to this email I just got from The 1975/Dirty Hit, their new album is available for preorder (from the UK only, currently) and preorders get access to UK tour date presale. Preorder Link: I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it Turr Dates: March 2016 Monday 7 - London - O2 Brixton Academy Tuesday 8 - London - O2 Brixton Academy Wednesday 9 - London - O2 Brixton Academy Sunday 13 - Manchester - O2 Apollo Monday 14 - Manchester - O2 Apollo Tuesday 15 - Manchester - O2 Apollo Friday 18 - Glasgow - O2 Academy Saturday 19 - Glasgow - O2 Academy Tuesday 22 - Birmingham - Barclaycard Arena The new album has a really long annoying title and the new single was pretty derivative (Bowie called, you guys...) so I'm nervous it might be a not so awesome time to be a '75 fan but I'll follow them on the path and see where it leads -- hoping for, at the very least, not disappointment.
  24. yes the 2x2 sorry. i often forget there's others; i've always liked the 2x2 the best because they're easiest to re-arrange/combine/split up as necessary when moving or just changing up your living room, etc.
