  1. I dont understand why Fat signed a band, released an album and then the band go to another label... saint-catherine, strike anywhere, star fucking hipsters, etc... Sales aren't high enough ??
  2. Im at work, 100 km east of montreal and we felt it !
  3. I discovered Choke during my college year, circa 1999... I was a huge skatepunk fan ! One guy in my class had the same taste of me, so while talking about Satanic Surfer, he told me about this canadian band : Choke The Next day, he bring "Needless to Say" to the class !! At my first listen, i totally fall in love with "Drain', the opening track !! Foreword was already out at the time, so I bought it since my local record store didn't have needless to say !! Took me some listen, but I also felt in love with it... Vocal changed a little bit, but I was getting used to it ! I first saw the band in 2001, They opened for AFI, here in montreal... During the ~30 minutes set, They played song from Foreword and Needless To Say OMG !! what a night !! The pit was empty, only 7-8 guys but anyway, I was there, bashing my head hard, pushing other choke follower around !! That night, I bought Needless to Say, Give'Er + a choke t-shirt that I still wear these day ! I was collecting cd at the time My friend didn't like AFI, so we left after 2-3 times... It's was during his horror punk time, around Black Sails in The Sunset I wasn't a big AFI fan at the time, but now i'm kicking myself in the head for leaving this early, in a room where 100 people was going crazy It was the last time AFI played montreal in a small club and the last time they played their hardcore style that i discovered maybe 2-3 year later You cannot know every band, right ?! 6-8 Month Later, The Smallman Tour came to Town, Choke, Layaway Plan, Moneen and a local band Suburban Trash took the stage ! Another great night ! Moneen blew me away with the intensity of their set, Choke was great as usual ! Then came There's A Story To This Moral, a cd that i disliked at first... I was still only into stakepunk, so I was like : What's this shit !? Maybe the 4 band Split : Across The Water arrived before this cd, don't remember !! Adhesive was changing sound, choke was changing sound I was dissapoint... When I saw that they reput 2 song on the new cd, I already knew that it was going down for me ! I stopped going to show, knowing their won't be any needless to say song.. Slow Fade arrived around 2005, this didn't help change my mind But with the time, my musical taste did change a little bit... I'm getting old, you know ?? When I heard the band was disbanding, I knew I Had to see their Farewell Tour... 2007 I think That was a really great night, ghost of the modern man was opening ! They played song from their last 4 cd Highlight of the night was when Shawn took the stage alone and started "One Less Thing At A Time" I never thought i would heard this song live... It gave my goosebump !! It was really a party night, with the guys taking shooter shot during song ! A nice fareweel to their montreal fan Today, I loved their last 2 cd, still love those old cd !! While collecting .mp3, I was able to find 'Lotion', their first one... but never found the real physical thing While I was young, I collected and traded a lot of VHS tape.. and I added to my collection some footage of their 1999 show in montreal They opened for Strung Out... I converted the audio to .mp3, Setlist was incredible : 1. DRAIN 2. LOST CAUSE 3. PERFECT, PLASTIC 4. IN REACH 5. LESS THAN NOTHING 6. NOTHING 7. NOT THE ANSWER 8. FILTER 9. MORE THAN ONE OPPONENT 10. SIX INCH COILER ON WHITE 11. TURD FARMER 12. THIS SIDE 13. I'VE TOLD MYSELF A THOUSAND TIMES R.I.P. Choke I missed you Nic

  5. I keep telling myself that there was infact a Smallman tour that had Choke, Moneen and SBB, or am I crazy? That show at the Pineroom in Oakvilee circa 2001 (?) was insane. Moneen, Pibald, SBB and Silverstein...amazing! I remember Kenny lit off fireworks from his guitar head and the show got shut down by the fire dept. Everyone was so pissed!
