I just started watching Black Blood Brothers and its pretty good.

actually i am waiting for the same thing. i cant wait to be able to complete some collections of mine that are too expensive to do these days.

Okay - I gotta ask this and maybe I'll finally begin to understand: If these are the problems, what are the solutions that you'd like to see? That continues to be real hazy to me as again, those two points - the inability to get certain variations easily/at retail price and labels/stores selling multiple colors and low press runs to drive up demand as well as create it out of nothing - sound like they couldn't be resolved together. Again, I just keep getting the vibe (aka I'm not saying this is what you, Justin or anyone else are actually saying) that I'm reading pity party posts from people who didn't get a record variation they wanted and for whatever reason have been unable to obtain it without overpaying and/or feel that they deserve/are entitled to records over other buyers/collectors. I think that's why most people keep saying "I understand the points, but..." because being selfish isn't an necessarily widely held opinion. but tony that wouldnt be it. because that is the thrill of the hunt!! lol

I agree with, however you're extrapolating things that the guy who wrote it didn't say. I'll break down what the guy said line by line. I mean really -- if you're into buying it for the money, sell high, quick. I agree. If you're into records because you believe that they'll be worth boatloads of eBay cash, sell your shit ASAP. Pressing eight colors and packaging them as a deal with a pint glass, beer stein and a bottle opener is quickly killing the joy of collecting. Obvious hyperbole about "eight colors", but he doesn't state anything about the package being the only way to get certain variants. If you don't want a pint glass, beer stein, or bottle opener, JUST BUY THE RECORD. I've fallen prey to it myself -- who wants a copy of [[the Falcon]] 10"? -- and can see how it's taking away the joy of actually finding rare vinyl. This throws me a bit. There are two colors of the Falcon. One is still available. I don't see how it's taking away the "joy" of finding "rare vinyl". The Vinyl Collective approach has commoditized and ran into the ground the concept of colored vinyl. Demand for "rare, limited, and colored" vinyl is what commoditizes records, not simply pressing it. If no one gave a shit about it it wouldn't be worth anything. To call out Virgil is shitty since he's not even the worst offender. If you're shopping for wall decorations it's a nice, cheap way to get some pretty colored disks -- but if you're wanting to own a piece of history (in my eye, the purpose of "rare" vinyl), you're just buying the Wal-Mart version of it. The point of vinyl, regardless if it's rare and/or colored, is to be a medium to reproduce music. I don't know where "owning a piece of history" comes into it. When I buy a record I do so to have the music that is contained on it, not to have a historic artifact. The rarity and color of the grooves should be a distant second to the music. Sorry Virgil, this is no offense to you and I know you love what you do, but this isn't fun anymore -- it's just tedious. Again, I don't see the point of calling out one person/label when there are a lot of labels doing similar things while putting less time and effort into it. To be clear, I'm very pro- the institution of vinyl and colored vinyl as a special thing. What I take issue with is taking the fun, the danger and the hunt out of finding those rare pieces of wax -- leading people to buy still-in-print 7"'s for 10 times the cost on eBay! I guess I don't understand what he's advocating. Less records? This would only make them worth more on eBay. More records? Isn't that going to ruin "colored vinyl as a special thing"? People's ignorance and stupidity is what leads people to pay 10 times the cost of records on eBay. I don't think that Virgil is solely or even partly to blame for that. check your rca plugs cheap ones do that or if they arent plugged in all the way.

wash in hot water dry on hot for about half a cycle pull it out while it is still damp hang dry then stretch to fit as its hang drying.

sometimes i feel like the people who put out the thrill of the hunt arguments are mad because they are elitist and want to be the only person who has records or theyre mad because they cant sell stuff on ebay for a superinflated price.

I dont think ive seen a sale where virgil puts the rarest variant of the record only available with the pint glass package. ive always seen them as an option and you also have the option to buy the record individually. some of the releases i have gotten w/ the packages and some i got individual. but i see pros and cons of repressing records after short times and low runs. pro: everyone gets a copy of the album(some buy all the presses, thats their choice) cons: everyone gets a copy so they are easier to find and take the fun out of hunting them down. also if a kid is on ebay and finds a copy of a still in print record and decides to put 10-50-80 etc etc down thats his choice if he really collected he would have the sense to research the album and see that it was still available. i havent sold anything on ebay yet but i have bought quite a few records from there and everytime im looking for something or i see something i research and try to find out its availability to judge what im willing to pay. just like when i go to record stores i have a list of stuff that i always want and if its there and priced in my range i will pick it up.

I think there are haters everywhere. I think this guy singled out Virgil because of how successful he has become since focussing more on VC. Some of his points do make sense and I agree but he's an asshole for pinpointing Virgil when sooo many other labels do the same.

if he is going to attack virgil about this then he needs to go after no-idea, robotic empire and a bunch of other labels doing the same things.

I knew it when they would interview together you could tell it was getting serious. Just when I was going to make my move.

I would think it was ok. I get a little sketched about it though because when putting together the expedit I noticed that the support for the shelves is better when used vertically, because the way the shelves are supported. Vertically the shelves go across and connect to either side with the divider supporting each shelf in the middle. When you lay an expedit on its side the only thing supporting the shelf is the wood dowels. records get heavy so i get sketched about that fact. Ive been thinking about this alot because Im going to be moving into a new house soon and was thinking of having my expedits lay horizontal.

i mean probably seedy as in neither. there are a lot of weirdos in downtown sc, but more fun weird than scary weird. i just made the vampire quote because of Lost Boys. but i agree about fun weird. there are a few druggie types and gangsters but nothing to worry about.

all the hotels there are seedy. some of the neighborhoods look pretty bad but you dont have to worry too much, just watch out for vampires. if the weather is decent you definitely wont be the only one walking around. when i lived there i liked going to the red room (bar) but in the downtown area thats where you will find all the bars and the catalyst has an alright bar upstairs. the blue lagoon used to be the gay dance bar but im not sure if it still is, there is also an irish pub i forget the name but it was pretty chill as well. the bowling alley is fun aswell if your staying for a little and want somethin to do i forget which night but they have a cheap beer night once a week. there will probably be a few house parties around too.

I dont know ever since i started listening to punk music probably 16-17 years ago johnny cash has been in the scene.
