  1. Oh absolutely. I totally understand. You're a strong dude, I'm so happy for you!

Seth's a good dude. I had him last year for SS and he lives about 30 minutes from me. Crazy.

Just went to Prime Quarter for some fantastic steaks last Friday!

Thank you both! Brock, I still spin that HRVRD record regularly. Thank you! I was surprised how close we are. Never would have guessed that considering where we are located haha. Man, Prime Quarter sounds fantastic right now.

  2. My name is Seth, I'm 23, I'm a cancer survivor so I'm pretty stoked on that.

I love beer, I love coffee, I love tea. Pretty standard. I'm a big Blackhawks, Bears, Bulls, and Cubs fan.

My music is pretty eclectic. I enjoy music from Top shelf, No Sleep, Tiny Engines, Run For Cover which I realize are all fairly similar in styles but my tastes are certainly not limited to that. Always looking to broaden my horizons musically. Although my tastes have shifted away from the more heavier/ hardcore side. I'm a No Sleep Subcriber so maybe nothing from there. I have it all.

Secret Santa, my tradelist is maybe half complete but I think it is a good representation. I'll post a wantlist here soon to try to help you out.

EDIT: here's a quick wantlist I just came up with off the top of my head. Obviously you don't need to buy any of this stuff. But if you're stuck, here you go!

    Toe discography

    Weezer - Blue Album

    Gerard Way - Hesitant Alien

Frank Iero and The Cellabration - Stomach Aches

    Prawn - Kingston

AGBPOL - Have You Seen My Prefrontal Cortex

    Somos - Temple of Plenty

The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper (mono)

Future Crooks - Future Crooks in Paradise

    Sorority Noise - Forgettable

From Indian Lakes - Absent Sounds or Able Bodies

Tiny Moving Parts - Pleasant Living

    ***** Double EDIT:

Also just wanted to note that anything local from your area such as coffees, teas, beer, or anything really, would be really cool. I like getting to experience things from different parts of the world and country whenever possible since I don't get to travel much.

  3. Right? Like it all stemmed from me talking about how I kinda think it's a littttlllle ridiculous that girls are complaining about Nicki Minaj and Meghan Trainer because they aren't including/"dissing" skinny girls in their latest hits. Think about how girls who aren't tiny have felt their entire life with mainstream media, you can handle two fucking songs not including your body type.

My sister turned that into "people are just so ridiculous about everything these days, like this white girl with pumpkin spice latte thing. Like why is it okay to say that? If it was about any other race, you would get torn apart for it."

I was truly speechless, I didn't know what to say. I was stumbling for my words and she was like "Don't even try because I won't agree with you." Then it went into the whole I shouldn't say "we have white privilege" because it includes everyone and that's not fair.

I'm glad you guys get what I'm saying though. I love my family but they truly aren't well versed in culture or the privilege that we have. I try to educate them but I get shut down so fast.

She clearly doesn't understand what white privilege is. That's why it needs to talked about. People need to be educated on it. It's absolutely critical for the progression of racial harmony. Glad to see you and others on here have some knowledge on the subject. Spread that shit!
  4. She thinks white racism exists. Which I know is a touchy subject anyway, but I don't.

Being mad that people are making fun of white girls loving pumpkin spice does not compare to the actual racism that happens on a daily basis. It's annoying, yeah, but it's not racism.

She got REALLY pissed because I said we have "white privilege" and she said saying "we" isn't fair because it encompasses all white people. But like...that's what white privilege is? We will never have to walk the streets in fear of being targeted because of our skin.

The way that men will never have to fear walking the street and being attacked because of their gender.

Sucks when people get mad when talking about that stuff. White privilege and institutional racism NEEDS to be talked about
  5. It does depend on how many records you have as well though as to whether a vacuum machine is a sensible investment.

that's the main reason why I guestion my need for a vacuum cleaner. I haven't catalogued my whole collection but I'd estimate it in the 400 range give or take. Don't k ow if that's worth getting a vacuum cleaner or not. My collection is continually growing and it's definitely not a fad thing for me so I don't ever plan on stopping. So the other side of me says screw it, why not invest in something quality that will last me a long time and is affordable to boot?
  6. It's loud and rotating by had is a little trickier than I had suspected, but I'm happy with purchase.

I cleaned a 10" and it seemed to work fine so I'd think a 7" would be fine, too. The only thing is, i suspect the suction won't be as strong since a part of the vacuum portion is sucking in air. I suppose you could try to covering it with packaging tape or something for better results.

    nice, thanks.
  7. Given the choice I would go for the Cambridge phono stage over the Project but I'd go for the better one the 651p or better still a Musical Fidelity.

That's my personal preference though so best advice is go and listen if you can as you may not agree.

Thanks for the input! Might just purchase both with the CC for comparison then return the one I like least. Don't have any dedicated HIFI stores around me unfortunately. Anyone else with input on allenh's recommendations or anything else I asked about is greatly appreciated.

  8. Posted in the never buy a Crosley thread but I thought I'd bump this thread in hopes to grab someones attention as I'm trying to get my stuff ordered today. Here's the post from that thread:

Looking for some advice. Looking to upgrade my system for time since the complete overhaul. I'm thinking the best investment, most cost efficient upgrade for sound and my collection is a cleaner. I'm pretty positive I want to get the Audio Advisor Record Doctor. Seems like a great value for a vacuum type cleaner. I might have some money to upgrade another portion of my system. I'm thinking either SpeedBox, Acrylic platter, or preamp (I have a Debut Carbon, surprising I know). From what I've seen over the years in these types of threads is preamp is a very good first upgrade sonically. In this case I've been considering the Cambridge Audio Azure 551p or the Pro-ject phono box S. Any comments or recommendations on that are welcome. I'm also considering the SpeedBox because I've read it's a nice sonic upgrade and throwing on a 12" and having it cut at 45rpm with no specification anywhere then getting it in "slo-mo" just annoys me. It just messes up my rhythm, so to speak. So, the SpeedBox would help with that. The Acrylic platter isn't a high priority, I manage the static issue just fine but still something to consider. I'm also wondering if getting a Spin Clean would be a good idea so I could save some money to use towards upgrading more components. Just noting my set up is, Debut Carbon ---> Yamaha AS500 Integrated ----> Wharfedale Diamond 10.1s (Again, surprising I know.)

Anyway, sorry that was a bit of a ramble. Just looking for some more knowledgeable input.

  10. Yeah including interfering with him when he's trying to make a save. But unable to move because Dwight King is fucking laying on him. But for some reason thats not goaltender interference?? Ok...

Yea that's tough to call. To me it was close, coulda been either way. Woulda been nice to see them call it then review it and adjust accordingly. Then again what the fuck do I know? Not even sure if they can reverse a call like that.
