Three years in the making since the release of their critically acclaimed debut full length "Erase All Name And Likeness," Transistor Transistor have returned with a crushing and articulate new album in "Ruined Lives." Transistor Transistor returned to Godcity Studios to record "Ruined Lives" with Kurt Ballou (Converge) who captured all the desperation, volume and misanthropy in 11 dark winter days of January.

Poorly Written yet Positive Review on Rock Sound.

Release Date: Out Now

Label: Level Plane

Rating: (8)

They may have left us hanging for three years since winning Rock Sound’s affections with 05’s ‘Erase All Name And Likeness’, but New Hampshire quartet Transistor Transistor certainly don’t fuck about on their long-awaited second album proper. All you get in way of introduction is a few seconds of menacing, muted riffing and feedback before opener ‘Morning Sickness’ swings like a wrecking ball into full, frantic motion, frontman Nat’s slurred, screamed delivery raging its way through a 20-second verse before a typically riled chorus. It’s a mighty slap round the chops, like being woken from a drunken slumber with a life-affirming bucket of water, only to realise upon clearing your eyes that you’re lying in a gutter. But while lyrically and often sonically this album has a spine of doom and despair, it’s also got bags of groove and songs that stay in your head after mercilessly rattling it around. And when they’re not battering away at your eardrums, you’re treated to the apocalyptic midpiece ‘Harvest’, Nat’s desperate vocals ranting over a repetitive, dread-ridden riff before brilliantly flowing into ‘Irreversible’ as the assault is resumed. Not a collection of instant club classics then, but most certainly all the better for it.
