Gumbo72203
Hey guys, so I need your expert opinions here. I'm looking to pick up this EP, and there are 3 different methods: the original release, the remastered release, and the compilation of FOTS and Blood is Bright. Do you guys have any word on which pressing sounds the best? I can get the red compilation press at a good price, but wasn't sure if either of the stand-alone EP versions have a better fidelity to them. Thanks guys! kjkenney
Can't speak for the individual release, but I have a cop of the comp, their self titled, and it sounds really fantastic. cut at 45 and its a Mylene Sheath release. Mastered excellent, one of my favorite sounding records
Gumbo72203
Oh yeah? Nice, yeah that's the one I think I'm going to pick up. What variant do you have?
GhostTrail
Actually, there's only the Self-Titled compilation, and the new remaster. This was originally only released a CD back in 2005. The compilation sounds fantastic -- as does pretty much any Mylene release. I can specifically speak for the red/black swirl variant. The new remaster also sounds great. I've got the 180g black variant of that. I'm not sure if the US/EU releases used different pressing plants, but it's likely they did. There's a noticeable difference in terms of the quality, it's not just an increase in volume like a lot of modern "remasters".
Gumbo72203
Awesome, I think I'll pick up both then. The one I'm going to get is just translucent red. No swirls or anything, unfortunately. I guess I was mistaken that the EP was also done on vinyl when it first came out.... hmmm.
