psus2h
These guys really have a great sound, the whole album is solid from start to finish. Jimmy Page recently said this is one of his top new bands to listen to. What do you guys think? Has anyone picked up this record? How does it sound? What is your favorite track? Klefki
Picked it up when it first came out and really enjoy it. "Ten Tonne Skeleton" is one of my favorites... Reminds me of Them Crooked Vultures. Last time I remember listening to this record I thought it sounded good.

The breakdown at the end of Figure it Out really reminded me of Them Crooked Vultures, or even QOTSA. This album is pretty legit.
YouTwo
I've been a fan since the first time I heard "Out of the Black". They struck me as a mix of The Black Keys, QOTSA and Muse. I had no idea it was only bass and drums when I first heard them. Such a big sound. psus2h

thethreebeggars
awesome debut album and imo one of the better cover artworks in recent memory.

thethreebeggars
Uh, oh yeah, forgot the favorite track. I'd say it's Little Monster, though it's really the chorus that get's me every time. Sufficient enough?
beta114
I saw them two months ago live. One of the best bands I've ever seen and they only have 2 dudes. To this day, as a musician for 15 years, I cannot understand how he gets such rich sound out of that bass while making it sing like a guitar. Incredible duo, wish I could find that white vinyl variant for cheap or the black cover for $20. A man can dream! field6689
rransomm
True, but all their own, all the same
rransomm
Multiple amps and stereo usage I'd imagine. Probably a couple bass amps and multiple EQ settings...good stuff
YouTwo
I haven't seen them live in person but I watched their Bonnaroo set online. They look pretty great live. At one point he was playing some leads with a slide on the bass.
thethreebeggars
Quite impressed that they're like three years in the business with their album just about 1 year old and they're already touring with the Foo's. Let's hope this won't get to their heads too much. I'm already really eager to see hear what they're going to be like on LP No.2.
psus2h
Could he be using some sort of octave pedal for the effect ?

psus2h
That's pretty rad. I'm hearing the Muse sounds mentioned earlier. This is just a groovin album the whole way through.
musicfan9795
I know when The Chariot's bass player left the band, their guitar players ended up doing something very similar to this.
YouTwo
Interesting video. The same guy has a link where he plays Muse riffs with the same setup.
LeeKaye
I really like them, I was luck enough to pick up all their 7s and the white limited LP. When I saw live coverage at The Brits, like others I was amazed at how much sound they could produce. I would say they are one of those bands who aren't doing anything especially groundbreaking, but they are very, very good at what they do. allenh
I've loved everything they've done since the moment I heard them and can honestly say I can't pick a favourite track, It's not often I love every track on an album but this one fills that category perfectly.
