JRHews
I'm going to be quite honest; I think this album is incredibly mediocre. Not many tracks really grabbing me as memorable. I'm honestly only keeping this for the beautiful reworked tracks on PW2, and to see if this will hopefully be a grower album. At the moment though there aren't a lot of takeaways. Derek™
Fair opinion, and I’m in a bit of the same boat. But I sort of knew that, going into this release — I knew it wasn’t going to be a Copia or a TATT, for me. I have no qualms at all with Matthew’s piano pieces, but I figured this album would be one that supplements rainy weather or lazy winter nights. Presentation is top notch, bonus 12” is dandy, the variant turned out sublime, etc. etc. No regrets on the purchase but I don’t think it’s going to be best “contemporary classical” AOTY or anything close. JRHews
I actually went into it feeling the opposite. We all know he is still definitely capable of work just as good as 'An Accidental Memory...', and was expecting a piano album on the same par with it, and other contemporaries, like Nils Frahm or Luke Howard. But I agree that the overall quality of the package is enough to keep it otherwise, but a little disappointed with the substance.
