It's nice to see an institution recognize that folk songs, blues songs, and early jazz songs are just as an important part of our cultural history as anything else.

I think we have reached a time and age that a lot of institutions are.

Oh and that was a really nice story. Thanks for posting!

I have some. They're classical music of some kind but I haven;t spent any time listening to them since my record player doesn't play 78s. Not sure if all 78s are like this, but the ones I have are the thickest/hardest records I've ever seen.

They're made (partially) of shellac and they're very thick, heavy and brittle. All 78s are like what you described.
