There have been a lot of reported problems with this pressing. Yep, I saw that on Discogs. I'm definitely grateful, especially with the amount of quite passages on this album. My copies of Laughing Stock and Spirit of Eden are pretty disappointing in that regard.

For what its worth, mine arrived from amazon.uk in perfect condition and I’ve played it through a couple times now, and the record is pretty clean without any noise. And i agree, both my copies of laughing stock and spirit of Eden have some annoying surface noise now and then and the odd pop... =/ overall happy with this release but would much rather better copies of LS and SoE. easteracrobat
Seems like this run of reissues has been really spotty. For me, Spirit of Eden is basically a perfect press, Laughing Stock is unplayable due to noise and pops, and Mark Hollis has a lot of annoying noise, but it's not a total disaster. OneThreeOneTwo
The 2011 Ba Da Bing has consistent surface noise but it's minimal and not noticeable for a couple of songs. The 2019 Abbey Road remaster pops and hisses like a mofo even after a proper cleaning. Also, Mark's voice is brought up front in the mix and made louder, which is awful because he sings the first word of every stanza at full volume before immediately going to a hushed voice, which is a startling nuisance. Otherwise, it's practically the same mix. I frankly don't know which version to flip. I might just request a refund and keep my Ba Da Bing. A somewhat shit remaster+ hisses and pops outweighs a minimal degree of surface noise IMO. I had a feeling something like this would happen. Edited November 20, 2019 by Andy Nghost * BOO!
