jayeffscene
So, I just got this record in the mail, but I read that the etched side will ruin your stylus. Could somebody confirm or deny this for me? I don't want to listen to it if it's gonna fuck shit up.
william
You don't want to play that side.

mattramone
why would anyone try to play an etched record? If the internet can convince people to try jenkem...
jayeffscene
Not a fake account. But when I was reading about this it said it was the 'first playable etched b-side.'
vodkablast
insert joke about noise music and paying an etched record.... to lazy to make one up right now
skumbucket
i wouldn't try to play it. the band members supposedly hand-carved it themselves, to i can't imagine there's actually any fidelity there.

ohiopride
i just look at my copies, i have not played them. i got a lime green one and a black one. funny thread though.
planetrakis
They are playable grooves. http://www.importantrecords.com/releases/imprec048_release_page.htm at your own risk though. Looking at mine, it looks as if there maybe a song at the beginning where there is no etching. My equipment isn't cheap though, so i've no balls. lol. pibbals
Hahaha, as far as noise goes, Wolf Eyes is a fucking joke.
Guest afsdan
the B-side has music on it, but there's an image etched into that side OVER the grooves that obviousy intrudes upon the enjoyment of said music. edit: oh. I just read the Important page. strike that^ reverse it.

pibbals
I'm not even all that into noise, to be perfectly honest. The guys in Wolf Eyes are seriously tools. Merzbow is generally considered pretty good, and the Gerogerigegege is pretty good, though there are opinions both ways on that one, as there are with most of the genre. But if you're one of the ones that doesn't like noise to begin with, you're not going to like it at all.
cactusbot
there are opinions both ways on that one, as there are with most of the genre. Exactly. What makes one band better than another? It's fucking noise. And for the record, I enjoy some noise.

Sword Heaven is good live, also older SWANS, Aube, Einstürzende Neubauten,& Lockweld, also good live.

william
I have seen Sword Heaven before. Pretty great. Yes! Sword Heaven is pretty great! I've seen them so many times. "Skinned and Glued" from the Entrance LP on Load RULES. You're from Cincinnati? Were you at the Hair Police show at the Art Damage last weekend. Hair Police killed it. Theres another show coming up at Art Damage that looks pretty good - Frode Gjerstad / Paal Nilssen-Love Duo and C Spencer Yeh/Jon Lorenz/Ryan Jewell Trio @ Art Damage 8/25/08 http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=240931681&blogID=355689427
cactusbot
Yeah. I'm from Cincinnati. I unfortunately didn't make it to the Hair Police show. I had to work that night. Slightly bummed about it.
