sherlock
hey everyone! i'm new to vinyl and i was just wondering, what's the best way to search ebay to get stuff that you'd be interested in? i mean i'm into punk, but "punk" under "records" turns up 50+ pages worth of stuff. is there a better way to do it? or am i just being lazy? haha. any input would be great. markalark17
I'd actually recommend searching for you favorite bands. That's always what I do. Plus, VC will get you into a lot of different genres of music. It did for me at least, haha.
scottheisel
Use the "save search" function for your favorite bands after you search in the vinyl category. That turns up tons of stuff for me when they send me email alerts.
sgoodcore
Use the "save search" function for your favorite bands after you search in the vinyl category. That turns up tons of stuff for me when they send me email alerts. I second this one, I do the same thing. For bands that don't turn-up too many results I actually have a combined search to avoid having 10 different saved ones.
patron
I'm actually in the habit of searching the same things in the same order every time I go on eBay. Ergs Briefs Exploding Hearts Against Me Blue Meanies And everyone in a while I'll get a little more specific and throw in either Hives or Strokes or whoever I'm digging at the moment. markalark17
^ just because everybody talks about different bands and youre bound to listen to and like a few of them... Pretty much exactly that. And Virgil sells so many releases, I check most of them out, and usually like them. Which is also why my spending has probably tripled since I found VC! jhulud
I will concur on this...ever since I joined VC, I have been exposed to new bands...
xlovecolouredx
use save search is a good idea. personnaly,i didn't use it for more 1 item because it will make you greed when you find more than one item form your favourite band which you want.... vinyljunkie
a good way is to find a seller that you like their stuff of, and save them as a favorite seller or bookmark their stuff, and then browse through their listings every week, or whenever. or when you find a record you like, click view sellers other items, and browse that way. another way (my favorite) is to go through the browse function. Click on Buy, and then Music, and then Records. then you can click on Rock, and click on emo and browse through all the records listed in the emo category, or indie or punk, or metal or whatever section you want. that way you dont end up missing a record you want just because you didnt think to specifically look for that band name. scottheisel
I wish I had time to be that comprehensive and look through every single listing (I'm sure that's how some of you find sick deals), but I don't know when I'd even have a spare moment to do that.
