thomas
So salt is super expensive this year, and the city also has a shortage so they are being really cheap on it. It snowed only about an inch in the last hour, but it suddenly got a lot colder so it's all ice out now. We just got flooded with accident and stuck calls on the highways andf main roads, and we are really backed up now. As of now the city has not started plowing or salting the roads because it is the weekend and there is no school tomorrow, so they don't care. They'd rather save money on salt then save lives on icey roads.

Glad you got them, enjoy that format lp. And apparently ODOT is pretty much broke, that is why they have been skipping out on the highways lately. thomas
haha yr city sucks. Indeed. I wish the phones would stop ringing. They stop ringing for about a minute, then ring for about 45 mins. Our tow trucks are still running 2-3 hours and we are not going to houses except for lockouts or jumps starts. flicker
see right now omaha has a budget surplus. during the winter, we have plows on the streets if it gets cloudy.
thomas
That is how it used to be here, but the city thought it was better to spend the money on building office complexs that are all vacant instead of salt. Who cares if some people die, we might attract one company for some tax money!
thomas
Well apparently someone did die up in Richfield (suburb). I guess their car fell off the 271 interstate bridge onto the 77 insterstate below. We had a stuck call right by it and our driver was told that by the highway patrol when he asked why it was all backed up. It stopped snowing thankfully, but it is like 15F out so it's icey still. That is fucked up. I'm glad it's not snowing up in Cleveland yet.
thomas
Yeah it stopped snowing at like 8 here, but it took ODOT a while to clean the ice up. I think the main roads are getting better down here, but some spots are still icey I guess.
jhulud
The first time that I had ever driven in the snow/ice was back in January when I went to training for work in Cleveland. That was quite an experience.
thomas
Well, atleast we did not get a huge ice storm like New England. Freezing rain is horrible.
akross
There were 2 accidents right where I was getting onto the freeway coming home from xmas shopping. Thankfully I could get right back off and take backroads home. 77 was all sorts of fucked up this afternoon.
lostatsea
It has snowed a bit in Toledo but the city seems to be on top of it at this point.
