billynomates
Def Leppard's Hysteria LP is near enough 60 mins long and that's pressed on a single LP. Shit LP I know, but it can be done. 37 mins is nowhere near the max. In thwe 70s and 80s I would reckon that most LPs were 20 to 25 mins long each side, easily. Having said that, for it to sound really good, and with good bass sound etc. a shorter LP side is preferable

andrews
It may be a little off-topic, but how, if at all, does this new press differ from the previous ones? I got mine a few years ago, so was just wondering...
jhulud
uh...Shai Hulud? Their first record came before the bands I mentioned, and that's definitely the more important of the two (I'm sure you'd agree). But of course my friend...but of course... akross
I've got albums that are 45+ minutes total and with superb quality on both sides. The original presses of the TITR didn't have this problem. They probably should've just gone with a different pressing plant. Okay, fair enough. I'm not arguing with you in the least. When I talked to someone over at Pirates Press they quoted a max of 18-20 minutes. I think they said 22 was the absolute max. Maybe it had to do with something they weren't telling me, I'm not sure. Interesting that 45+ can fit on a single LP though. I'll have to remember that. I am curious now... I have been hunting down The Cure's Disintegration, and it comes on a single picture disc. How can a 70+ minute album fit on one record?
thomas
So far mine is good, but the sound quality is not as good as my first press. I notice a lot more of a staticy sound, and it seems dullier over all. Too bad my first press skips . Edit: "Something to Forget", the last song on the A-Side skips pretty bad. 3-4 times so far. Edit 2: The b-side does not skip, but it had really loud static at times, and sounds horrible over all. I demand someone send me a copy that is not all glitched. scottheisel
Dude, it's just your turntable. Dump a bag of change on it and everything will sound fine.

rivals
My b-side skips pretty bad, going to try the dime thing tonight.
memoryloss
overall sound quality is not good, plus lots of noise on the b-side. so yeah is there any way to tell first pressing apart from this one? because it sounds like most people are saying the first pressing isn't like this. steventangent
Ugh. Can't even test mine right now. I'm so pissed, because by the time I can play it, it will be too late.

scottheisel
bummer. i really wanted to pick this up too. i just can't justify picking this up if it sounds like shit. Ditto. I wish Rev would just say, "The pressing's fucked up, sorry!'
steventangent
and then redo it, but RIGHT this time.
memoryloss
yeah its great that Rev is just denying it. 'oh I'm sure it's just coincidence that everyone who bought the record says it's fucked up. ours sounds fantastic!' so Virgil, can I send this back to you to get returned to Rev? If I put a mean note in it will it make it to Rev? or possibly a bag of poo?
thomas
I don't know what I'm going to do with mine, I'm sure it'd take a long time for them to go through the exchange process and I'm sure they one they'd resend out would sound exactly the same.
