thedavidescapeplan
I'm thinking it's Raygun or Lawrence Arms, either of which I'd be stoked on. Other possibilities: Pegboy, Screeching Weasel (they just got back together, but I have no clue what else they'd be doing that day). I'd be surprised if Screeching Weasel would play without getting paid a substantial amount of money. hahaha that's the truth.

danthemjfan23
if i were to show up to this, would i be able to bring a digital recorder and plug into the sound board? i'm thinking about coming home this weekend so i can bring a bunch of my college stuff home because i graduate in 4 weeks and don't want to have to leave anything behind. my parents aren't home this weekend and neither are my doggies, so i'm going to have nothing to do... thedavidescapeplan
Its the Lawrence Arms, heard it from some guy in the band. If this is true then I'm super excited for this.
danthemjfan23
EDIT: to the proud owner of a Pegboy test... am i really? even if it's just a mackie board with some mics/amps plugged into it, they're going to need to go through something right? i've been to a few in-stores, and most of them are usually run through some sort of board that would have an output xlr jack. Brendan lives, bartends, plays shows in social clubs and other things in wicker park. It's like a perfect match.

thedavidescapeplan
my original question was directed toward dave :-\ The fact there is more than one dave in this thread keeps confusing me.
davehoffa
The band that's playing is on a label, so plugging a device into the PA system is something I'd rather not deal with, because then we become accomplices to your bootlegging. So . . . no.
danthemjfan23
fair enough. thanks anyway!
davehoffa
No problem. I have no problem with you recording things, but plugging into the PA gets touchy. Hopefully I see you on Saturday!
danthemjfan23
i'm sure i'll still be there. i'll let you know beforehand either way (as well as everybody else here going) so we can say hey.
forgeagain
Labels don't own the rights to a band's live recordings. It's not like the guy is going to release it or make copies and sell it. Also, I'm guessing they're not micing drums or anything so plugging into the soundboard would be retarded anyway. Finally, I guess this means I won't see any of you at the downtown location. Thanks a lot Dave!
davehoffa
haha . . . not true. Aren't you playing at 1, Justin? The mystery band isn't until 3. Also - excellent point on the non-mic'ed drums.

forgeagain
I've seen a couple shows at Reckless and only once was it actually acoustic. Even then they still used drums. Mics were only for the vocals. We'll see what happens for these other ones.
davehoffa
Will most likely announce this tomorrow night at some point.
captainmorgan
Noooooooooooooo...I have to work on Saturday. This sounds way better than what I'll be doing. Maybe I can get out of it...
seafoamgreen
If Reckless wants some video for their website, I'll shoot this secret mystery band (that I'm secretly hoping is the Effigies, though TLA would be kickass). I'll be there regardless.
