stevemcqueen
I got the Ruiner-Hell is Empty LP a few weeks ago at the Bridge 9 tour, and it seems to run at 45 rpm. It's way too slow at 33. I've never come across a 45 LP. Is this normal, or is it messed up? It's not my turntable, cause my other records are fine.
kurtz
Normal. LPs are not always 33, and 7"s are not always 45s.

dreamover
if it is a shorter record, then a lot of times the record will be pressed at 45rpm. i would say most 12" singles get pressed at 45 rpm. it takes up more of the record and uses more grooves. the faster the record is spinning, the better the sound quality. lps are pressed at 33 rpm, because the whole record usually wont fit at 45 rpm. if a record is too long for a single lp at 33, but doesnt necessarily fill 4 sides of 2 lps, they will do it at 45 rpm and fill all 4 sides. stevemcqueen
Good to know. I have some 33 7 inches, so I knew they existed, this is just the first 45 12'' I've come across. Thanks for the explanation!
