Does anyone know when Junius should be getting their versions of the Self-Titled album? Or Caspian is getting theirs for the 3XLP?

From what everyone keeps telling me the one 2nd to the last on the right is the same pressing as the record you just posted although I had confusion about this and I wasn't entirely sure they do look very different. I ordered that one pictured from makemyday records and they sent me the one I posted. Which is another reason I believe that they were possibly the same pressing.

Is anyone seeing Junius anytime soon that could pick one up for me?

Weird, because this cream/bronze look exactly as black/bronze version and look completely different than cream/bronze on Your photo. As I remember those are the euro version (I'm pretty sure that Joel write about this on Mylene Sheath message board, but now it's down and I can't Check). Band had this records on tour in Europe last year quite long before official premiere (Side D has a small sound defect between two last songs). Other color versions (2nd discs) have been pressed again without defect.

Anyway - interesting case.

ps. sorry for my poor english :)

ALMOST-FULL JUNE NEWSLETTER

Yo yo yo!!

Sup posse??? Hopefully everyone had a radtastic month of May! Things were good here at the headquarters. We did a little traveling (Athens, GA - here we come! More on this below), got obsessed with Six Feet Under (thanks Netflix!), packed (and are still packing) an assload of preorders for the Junius 2xLP, launched the Caspian 3xLP preorder, added a new band to the roster (more on this later), and were paid a visit by a duo of traveling vagabonds named Ricky and Alex =) The Mylene forum moderator Ricky road-tripped cross country last month with his buddy Alex and one of their last stops was here in Cincinnati for a night of Mylene fun =) Lets just say bourbon, pizza, Pee Wee's Big Adventure, The Four Trees, Shake It! Records, Melt, and Snake River Brewing Co. combined to make the visit legendary. Love ya Ricky, lets do it again soon brother! All the bands were busy as usual - Constants, Caspian, and Junius all spent the month over in Europe touring and laying it DOWN. Caspian and Constants were touring together and Junius was on the road with God Is An Astronaut. Gifts From Enola and Angel Eyes got everything wrapped up for their July releases (more on these below) and Eksi Ekso spent a LOT of time working hard traveling to several locations to record and mix material for their next album. So May was good and active and June promises to up the ante a bit more! How? Well, lets talk about that....

Just a quick update on the Caspian 3xLP for ya! There's still copies of the silver, hand numbered edition available (limited to 190). Thanks so much to everyone that has preordered the album, we know $30 is tough to part with these days and it means a lot that so many people have made the leap on this beast, you will not be disappointed! Both us and the band appreciate it more than you'll probably ever know <3 Production is underway at the plant and we'll keep everyone updated on the status of the monster as it gets closer to shipping. PLEASE WELCOME THE NEWEST MEMBER OF THE MYLENE SHEATH FAMILY... HERRA TERRA!!

When we flew to Boston last December to be with Junius at the record release show for The Martyrdom of a Catastrophist, we knew that Tombs and the always amazing Irepress were going to be opening. But we had no idea that the other opening act would sound like a Head Automatica / Depeche Mode hybrid and incite a feel-good, dance-party riot... and blow our minds. Less than a month later, we got in touch with the band and begged them to let us work with them =) And so it came to be. Catchy, dancey, bumping, thumping, grooving, and infectious as fuck - Herra Terra bring the party and don't wait for the party to find them. A confident swagger and a humble attitude make up the cocktail of beautiful people, and Herra Terra have these ingredients in spades. We couldn't be happier to be working together and it is without an further adieu that we introduce to you... HERRA TERRA!!!!! Please go check these guys out immediately on Myspace, Facebook, and Twitter and get better acquainted with them! The new album, Quiet Geist, drops in September with artwork being handled by Radar Visual mastermind Michael Repasch-Nieves (Junius) and if you've seen his work on the Junius albums, you know it's going to be top shelf stuff for sure. Recording, mixing, and mastering credits are forthcoming, along with the tracklisting and cover art - stay tuned... the party is about to get started!!!

SUPPORTING THE OIL DISASTER RELIEF EFFORTS IN THE GULF!

The explosion of the Transocean Deepwater Horizon rig on April 20 killed 11 people and led to the BP oil spill - quickly becoming the largest in human history - that threatens coastal Louisiana, Gulf Coast fisheries, Gulf of Mexico ecosystems, and perhaps the East Coast, as the spill reaches the loop current.

400: Number of wildlife species threatened by the spill. Threatened species include sea life such as whales, tuna and shrimp; dozens of species of birds; land animals such as the gray fox and white-tailed deer; and amphibians such as the alligator and the snapping turtle. (Source: New Orleans Times-Picayune)

At least 30: Species of birds the Audubon Society says are potentially threatened by the oil spill. These include marsh birds, ocean-dwelling birds and migratory songbirds. All reside in "Important Bird Areas," according to Audubon, designated because of their "essential habitat value." Among the most vulnerable species is the brown pelican -- the state bird of Louisiana -- which was only recently removed from the endangered species list. The spill is especially devastating for bird populations because it coincides with the beginning of breeding season. (Source: Audubon Society)

25 million: Number of birds that traverse the Gulf Coast per day, and which are potentially at risk from the oil spill. According to the LA Times Greenspace Blog, "Late spring is the peak time for neo-tropical songbirds moving from the Yucatan Peninsula to make their first landfall in Louisiana," and "more than 70% of the country's waterfowl frequent the gulf's waters." (Source: LA Times Greenspace Blog)

11 million: Number of gallons of oil leaked into Alaska's Prince William Sound in 1989 by the Exxon Valdez oil leak. It is widely considered the worst oil spill in U.S. history, although a number of larger spills have happened around the world, most notably the 2002 Prestige spill off Spain. (Source: CBS News)

400: Number of oil projects illegally approved for operation in the Gulf of Mexico under Interior Secretary Ken Salazar. According to the Center for Biological Diversity, the oil surveys and drilling operations threaten marine mammal life in the region. (Source: Center for Biological Diversity)

There's a lot you can do to help though! Check it out....

Matter of Trust is an amazing organization you can learn more about HERE, but the following is a free program they organize that anyone can participate in (text below taken from Matter of Trust website):

"Matter of Trust is collaborating with thousands of salons throughout the US and abroad, that donate their hair clippings to soak up oil spills.Last year over 2,600 oil spills occurred in the world. They weren't all are high profile, but most had an impact on the environment. Phil McCrory, a hair stylist from Alabama, first discovered how hair can help. He was shampooing an oily head of hair while watching TV coverage on the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill. He noticed the fur on the Alaskan otters completely soaked with oil and it just occured to him. "We shampoo because hair collects oil." He began testing how much petroleum oil he could collect with the hair clippings from the floor of his salon. Phil then invented the hairmat which is made from purchased hair in China and felted in China. Please find Phil and our friends at www.Ottimat.com. For the last 10 years we have partnered with Phil and Ottimat to see if we can create a North American Natural Fiber Recycling System so that we could rekindle the textile manufacturing sector here and make the mats along with making the booms.

The US has over 300,000 hair salons and each cuts an average of a pound of hair per day. Groomers usually cut 3 pounds per day! Donors generously pay out of pocket for postage to send their swept up hair clippings to either where there are temorarily donated storage spaces for emergency spills or our warehouse, when space is available. There we make "booms" by stuffing hair, fur, wastewool, etc. into donated recycled nylons and mesh. We do the fundraising and outreach for this International Natural Fiber Recycling System through our posters in participating salons and with the help of the press.

We are also fundraising for a larger permanent warehouse here in California to make hair booms. We also believe that collection kiosks at US harbors will provide green jobs and booms for many of the 2,600 little oil spill emergencies that occurr in the world annually. We aim to create green jobs programs through ARC and concentrating on those transitioning out of foster care (at risk youth 18-22 years old) for fiber collection and boom making. We also aim to rekindle the textile industry in the US so that we can manufacture the felted hair, fur & fleece mats here - the way Ottimat does in China. These mats are good for emergency oil spills and for lining oiled bird and mammal cages. To help please email us suggestions and check out our Ways To Contribute $ page."

Specific information and instructions on how you can donate hair is located HERE.

So we decided to donate some hair to Matter of Trust since we have to shave our cat, Ricky, once a year in the summertime anyway or else he develops a skin rash because he has such thick fur =) Don't worry though, as you'll see - he LOVES it. He spends most of his valuable time trying to find ways to keep cool, so when this time of year rolls around he is very appreciative =)

And here are some other places you can contribute to and partner up with to try and make a difference:

The Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana is organizing food distributions for those affected by the spill. You can donate money or volunteer.

The Community Center of St. Bernard provides food, hot meals and counseling to those affected by the spill. T-shirt sales go to help fishermen and their families.

Tristate Bird Rescue & Research and the National Audubon Society, are organizing volunteer efforts for wildlife rescue and beach clean-up.

Buy Dawn detergent: If you register online here and purchase a bottle of Dawn, $1 will go toward the Marine Mammal Center and the International Bird Rescue Research Center.

Other organziations you can contact to help are, Volunteer Louisiana, Mississippi Commission for Volunteer Service, Volunteer Florida, and 211 Connects Alabama.

The Gulf Coast Oil Spill Volunteers Facebook group coordinates people who want training to help in cleanup efforts.

The government has a volunteer hotline at 866-448-5816, and BP has a community support team hotline at 866-448-5816

We're also expecting some copies of God Is An Astronaut - The End of the Beginning 2xLP's and God Is An Astronaut - A Moment of Stillness LP's sometime soon, co check the distro often for new jammage. But ANYWAY, here's some of the new jams we just got in:

THOU / LEECH- split 12"

"Vinyl split between two caustic, nihilistic U.S. bands, with Thou's ultra-heavy, depressive sludge combining well with Leech's depressive, atmospheric, transcendental black metal."

PURCHASE

THOU / SALOME - split 12"

"One of the ugliest, heaviest, most brutal splits out there...Thou offers two tracks of transcendentally slow and unbelievably thick sludge, while Salome takes a similar approach yet exude a more hateful, vitriolic attitude.

NADJA / OVO - The Life and Death of a Wasp split 12"

"Over the last few dogs days of summer 2008, Italy s OvO and Canada s Nadja, got together in their adoptive city of Berlin at Einst rzende Neubauten s andereBaustelle Studio. With engineer Boris Wilsdorf at the board, each duo began two songs and had the other duo finish them, Bruno and Stefania adding heavy, pounding rhythms and harsh, eerie vocals to Aidan and Leah s ambient textures and bass-heavy drones.

ORDINATION OF AARON - Discography 2xLP

"Finally after all the waiting - the ORDINATION OF AARON discography is done. It's a double LP (A/B side comes on white The DLP includes the LP, the 7" and the split 7" w/ INDIAN SUMMER - but NOT the acoustic 7". All records come w/ nice booklets and an extra patch. one of the leading bands ( together with indian summer , current , policy of three ) of the mid90's emo sound."

GIANT SQUID - The Ichthyologist 2xLP

"Vega Vinyl has finally unleashed the preorder for Giant Squid s The Ichthyologist . This one is a 2xLP, pressed in three different colorways: Marbled Green / Marbled Orange (stamped/numbered edition of 100), Marbled Blue / Marbled Flesh (edition of 150), and Black (edition of 250). This stuff is pretty hard to describe, but it has elements of stoner/doom bands like Neurosis, but with some characteristics that smooth it out a bit (some female vocals, cello, etc). Basically, it s good, that s all you really need to know."

EAST OF THE WALL / YEAR OF NO LIGHT / ROSETTA - split 2xLP

"Denovali Records and Vega Vinyl have teamed up to offer this new three-way split from three crushing bands (well, I guess only two of them would really be considered crushing ). East of the Wall, Year of No Light, and Rosetta have each contributed songs to this 2xLP, most of which is some heavy, heavy metal. The packaging also looks beautiful, and was designed by our good buddy Eric Nyffeler aka Doe Eyed Design."

And you can view the entire distro by simply clicking here. Wooooot!

OK, so i;ve been lucky enough to get a sneak peak at the whole Angel Eyes album. Have given it some extended, repeated listening, and I have to honestly, hand-on-heart say that this is one of the best heavy records I've heard in years. It demands constant rotation. Those of us that have placed orders for this without hearing (or hearing very little) Angel Eyes WILL be truly awed by this creation. It mixes all the best elements of current heavy music - guitar driven post-rock melodies, sludge, doom, drone, hardcore, perfectly placed sparse, roaring vocals into a very accessible whole. Midwestern stands up and is equal to, if its not better, than anything Relapse, Southern Lord, Hydrahead or the like are releasing at the moment. Stunning, stunning album. You'll be overjoyed once you get yer ears around this. Cannot wait for the vinyl to released and for it to arrive in my post box.
