agerst1574
Given that Against Me is not performing in NYC, I am really thinking about taking the Long Island Railroad to the Crazy Donkey to go see them. Anyone been out there and know if the railroad is near the venue? I am also curious if anyone has info on the venue itself? Sightlines, attitude of staff, etc.
podface
i havent been there in a couple of years since i went to college but the venue was alright then. the staff is pretty aggressive, and theres always a couple of kids kicked out because of moshing too hard or stage diving. ive seen a bunch of fights involving the bouncers, and at one of the last ASOB shows, JT had to jump into the audience to break up a fight between a bouncer and his friend. im pretty sure the train station is pretty close, but i might be confusing that with the downtown, a venue that closed down a couple of years ago. hope i was of some help! twelvetwenty
I've only been there once, but I thought it was pretty rad. I remember being able to see well from most everywhere and there is a bar towards the back that is a bit elevated if you're not into being in the thick of it. The staff was real nice to me and mine and there's a cool little patio area on the side that you can bring drinks out to and whatnot. We drove there so I don't know a thing about the trains... von
been there a bunch, work right across the street from it too... Been to shows where the sound has been ok, and other times it was pretty bad. around 5 bux a drink, cool patio area outdoors, from one spot you can see the band pretty well and be outside. Staff can be jerks sometimes, and there is a big ol' pole in the middle of the dance floor. As far as a train, you will want to take the ronkonkoma line and get of at the farmingdale station and grab a cab, I'm going to say an 8 min cab ride tops. Def not the best place to see a show but one of the bigger spots on LI that bands will come to, plus I live about 10 min away so I don't mind the venue as much as some other people I know. Ticket prices are usually pretty reasonable as well
smashingpimp01
it's the only option left after the beloved Downtown closed It's a pretty good venue. Nice outdoor area that is parallel with the stage so you can actually be outside and still watch the band. Beware of the big pole in the pit lol
