hickey
Yeah, same here. I've let them sit in my car over winter and they ended up just fine. The only thing is they won't play in the car's CD player right away. You basically have to warm them up, anyone know why? Probably because the cold creates a fog on the disc and the laser can't read through it until it fades off.

Makes sense, thanks! No problem. Though that was just a guess. It's like when you put glasses/sunglasses on when you first get into a cold car and they fog up... thomas
I've had a few CDs in my car for years, and all are still fine. I've never seen them crack due to cold temperatures.
skumbucket
yeah, i keep books of 150 or so burned cds in my car every day of the year, and even at -30+ celsius they haven't cracked yet.
adamlikesmusic
I've had CDs warp from keeping them in my car in the 120 degree summers. But that was one extreme case. Usually they're fine. My CD player won't play The Decline, though, which pisses me off. (I've got one of those 10 disc changers in my car, but it loads from the back. In my parents' cars, if you push enough eventually it'll realize that past the clear edges, it is indeed a CD)

andrew13
they broke last year when it was like -20 in febuary. my fucking oil pump blew that same week on the way to the Pens-Preds game. then on the way back, my car wasn't running right at all and there was a wreck on 79 so we got stuck on the interstate for about 3 hrs.
