donlombardo
Anyone ever thought "hey, this song should've been on the first on the bside/last on the a-side instead, it would have made more sense"? Any examples of albums like that? Three examples: Alkaline Trio - Goddamnit (re-issue) Side a ends with Clavicle, which makes no sense... Enjoy Your Day would've been a great closer and Clavicle is a GREAT opener. It would have made the sides 6 songs/6 songs. The only reason I see is that they made the sides more equal in length. I would vote against it though. Streetlight Manifesto - Everything Goes Numb The split A Moment of Silence/A Moment of Violence between C and D, which makes no sense either, seeing how they should flow into each other. Ruins a part of a great record. Satanic Surfers - Going Nowhere Fast Out Of Touch on side a, Discontent on side b, even though they flow as one song on the cd. Also, in my perfect The Lawrence Arms world, they should have split Cocktails and Dreams like this: A: SVT split side A Boring Story Faintly Falling Ashes A Toast Nebraska Another Boring Story B: Present Day Memories Quincentuple Your Money 100 Resolutions There's No Place Like a Stranger's Floor Hey, What Time is 'Pensacola: Wings of Gold' on Anyway? C Intransit Presenting: The Dancing Machine (The Robot With the Monkey Head) Overheated Necrotism: Decanting the Insalubrious (Cyborg Midnight) Part 7 D Joyce Carol Oates is a Boring Old Biddy The Old Timer's 2x4 Turnstiles Old Mexico Way Purple Haze Heaven Help Me (without silences)
themullet89
Definitely agree on the Streetlight one!
One Hundred Fifty-Two
I'm going to guess it mostly is a time issue. And even if it can fit it would sound better broken up.
scottheisel
I can't remember the name of the song, but the A-side of the new Tim Kasher album ends super abruptly in the middle of a bunch of guitar squeals and stuff. Obviously it was meant to segue into the next song, but it's pretty jarring when all that follows it is the sound of my needle returning. xjustinxschwierx
timing issues, plus honestly it's probably a product of the band not thinking about vinyl side splits in the sequencing....
AlexH.
Girl Talk - Night Ripper always bums me out when it gets to the end of each side, because instead of being one continuous song, it's now 4 big sections. They did some edits so it doesn't sound totally abrupt, but it's still jarring when you're used to the CD version.
