porchlight
This may have been asked elsewhere, but what is the cheapest route to shipping multiple records to Europe and/or Japan?
tokimedo
probably priority mail.
psychoriley
First Class (up to 4lbs) but you can't track it. For trackable, priority. Go to usps.com and it will show you pricing. Go to calculate postage, international. Just put what country and a weight.
dinkle82
Priority was the best for me. But I had an FPO address so I couldn't track it anyway.
tokimedo
is first class ALWAYS cheaper than priority or does it change based on location?
psychoriley
Always cheaper if it's available....But like I said, No tracking. I've used 1st class quite a bit for international packages.
tokimedo
they still give you a customs # though, which serves as SOME form of tracking, i think?
psychoriley
Well, my quite a bit being maybe 30 times or more. Everywhere from Australia, U.K., Norway, Germany, Canada. Always got there OK. Sometimes it takes a while but usually about 10-14 days on average.
psychoriley
I never get a customs #. You do have to fill out a green customs Declaration form and stick it on the box. I tried tracking with the # on it....didn't work. But priority, Yes you can track. And definately go priority if who your sending to doesn't have SOMETHING to go by for a reference. Weather that be on the board by word of other VCers or another board...or if they are on ebay, they have higher number feedback with 100%, and I usually even look at what they have bought and see how much is from the U.S. Just a precaution....if they say they didn't get it your shit out. Snaggle Von Swift
how about one single LP to Germany?
wronghometown
I never get a customs #. The customs number serves as tracking for 1st class on usps.com, it's on the copy and receipt.
geezfools
it's almost $30 to ship a single LP with a legit form of delivery confirmation as far as paypal is concerned. I won't ship an LP overseas without that confirmation anymore, sucks, but so does some dude ripping you off when you know damn well he got the record, not playing games anymore
wronghometown
I might add that even with the customs tracking, I've gotten screwed by ebay, because the package never got there.
