Las Vegas

Recommended Posts

I lived there for 8 weeks this summer.

When you arrive and get a cab to your hotel make like you've been there before and ask him to take Paradise (assuming you're staying at the strip).

When you get to your hotel, tip the hotel clerk $20 and ask if s/he can get you in a better room. This almost always gets you a sweet room and if not, they'll not take your money.

I have a ton of food recommendations, but here are some that stood out: http://ourwordofmouth.wordpress.com/2010/07/26/10-second-reviews-las-vegas/

Do you plan on gambling or seeing shows? PM me about either and I can give you tips about where to go.

The Golden Nugget on the old strip rules. Go there.

Go to the sign graveyard

I don't know, PM me if you have any specific questions

The old Star Trek bar was the best. Truly an awesome experience. If you are looking for a cool off-the-strip punk bar hit the Double Down. You want something fun to do, ATV rentals are cheap and you can hit the desert and hills - tons of fun.

You missed the Liberace museum as well - too bad it's gone. That guy was pretty awesome when you realize he was totally serious.

The Las Vegas Gun Shop (range) is a good time for a couple of hours.

The neon boneyard is cool but you need to make an appointment in advance. It's worth seeing once especially if you're a photographer.

There is really good Mexican off the strip but I won't make a suggestion as its been three years since I was there. Check for some local reviews.

Oh, and the strip is cool. Check out the joints but if you want a taste of old Vegas Circus Circus still has acrobats and the Frontier is a trip (and has bingo)

Have a great time.

I grew up in vegas. Best thing I used to do when I was under 21 was go to the casinos and pretend to be playing the slots and the cocktail waitresses would bring you free drinks ALL night. So you can get drunk off free booze then go the casinos restaurant and get the graveyard special breakfast menu. One dollar breakfast plate. Oh being young. :)

You should see bodies the exhibition... It's pretty hard for me to think of anything fun. I've lived in Vegas since I was a kid so I'm pretty jaded. I usually just go to Zia record exchange and various comic book shops. If you're down to get some amazing cheap sliders check out this food truck... http://slidinthru.com/
