moonbeams
The only Bootleg I've owned was the SW Ramones tour boot (sold that today) and a RAMONES outtakes comp (still have it). I found them both in record stores.

trevorm
I've thought about the bootleg thing before. Not really sure about it. I have one boot, The Dicks - Peace 7. I think I got it through Grave Mistake. Grave had it listed as a fan club release. They had it listed as a boot that they just chucked onto their distro list. There wasn't any other info available anywhere online as to where the thing actually came from.

x43x
I have a dozen or so AC/DC bootlegs of live soundboard recordings along with a few other bands. Check out a book called Bootleg by Clinton Heylin. It's a very detailed account about the rise of bootleg LPs. http://books.google.com/books?id=hUyMNhH_l-EC&printsec=frontcover&source=gbs_atb#v=onepage&q&f=false

bentclouds
I've seen a couple of people mention this...how does this work? And how do you even find copies of bootlegged vinyl? There's a local guy that's been pressing bootlegs with lovely screen-printed covers and limited color vinyl pressings of stuff like Eno - BBC Sessions or Pixies - BBC Sessions or My Bloody Valentine - Demos and Early Recordings. He has managed to get them into many stores around Southern California (including Amoeba) and this seems to be his ebay store: http://shop.ebay.com/restlessnativeslbc/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686
