thebiglebowski
Don't really understand what a stack of 10" speakers 6 high would get you (referring to the last pic). I get having a couple different speakers to cover different frequencies. Or is a $40k speaker set about the volume it can produce?

Each speaker in an enclosure is equivalent to 1" of penis size the owner is missing from the average 6".
Tardcore
sound stage/imaging? general badassery? The real key is having an acoustically engineered tree adjacent to your signal chain.
slinch
@thebiglebowski Koherence, stage, volume, low end extension, linear response (as close as possible). The idea behind using so many drivers is to get the ability to move as much air as possible (big cone area), but at the same time not having to worry about the drawbacks of large diameter drivers (they are very slow, less responsive). So you just use more of them. Imagine filling the gap between the sound quality of a high end home setup and the drive and sheer power of a live concert. The closest I've ever heard was this: speakers: SoulSonic Impulse The system: amp: BFA Tulip table: Clearaudio Master Reference arm: Clearaudio TT2 cart: Clearaudio Goldfinger phono: Tom Evans Master Groove digital: Black Note CDP500
jdtg
I believe it's easy to assume that setup is worth more than I'll make in the next 10 years... It looks incredible, I'd love to hear it
