theheartben
I am just interested to see peoples thoughts on the importance of dust covers - both when playing and not playing records. Edit : I have a dust cover. I was mostly curious about this because I have seen a lot of pictures where people don't have them. Especially on the sort of.. audiophile-y looking tables (rega, pro-ject, etc).
aju2streets
I would say it is. I wouldn't even consider a table without one.
piky0032
dust is terrible for both the table and the records so yes....go for a table with a cover
circuit bored records
If you're looking at pictures of records playing, it is better to have the dust cover open/off because reduces vibrations that can translate into more noise for your cartridge. If you're looking at pictures of turntables that don't have records spinning on them, then dust is terrible for both the table and the records so yes....go for a table with a cover
jase
I sometimes take my dust cover off(rega) if I'm going to be doing an extended listening session. Some say that it will vibrate enough to affect sound. I just don't like it sitting up for xtended periods
