deletedunknown
I keep hearing these guys play like sticks are up their asses live. Anybody have any good words to say about them live otherwise? They sound like something I'd want to be good live.

Anyone else like VAR ( formerly WAR ) ?

They sound like something I'd want to be good live. I saw them and I wouldn't describe it that way. The pit was pretty cool and Elias didnt mind constantly getting bumped and doing it back. Sort of a double edge sword in that they're really young so they've got some attitude and energy, but they don't exactly "have the chops", if ya know what I mean? There are plenty of live vids on YouTube to see for yourself though. One or some members are also in Sexdrome, which is a real gritty Youth Attack / Posh Isolation band. Too lazy to look up but maybe it was the drummer.

I really like that VAR record a lot. I might even like it better than Iceage.. but I also like the Holograms which I think is similar to Var more than Iceage. *PS sorry i posted it so late in the day, that people missed it. Out of Breath Records
Yeah, they sound similar. But I do like Var. Anyone listen to Cult Of Youth? Also on Sacred Bones.
petgrief
I love that Var album. I sprung for the box set, so now I have a length of rope that I can use to strangle my dick while I listen. I wouldn't have known what to do with it, but they were nice enough to enclose a how-to photo. Out of Breath Records

And yeah, Holograms are awesome. I wonder if Holograms were on a more "noisy" label, rather than Captured Tracks, if they'd be a bit more well known. I bet. they're pretty punk I think but commonly overlooked. but when I saw them in NYC lots of people were there. but I think that's just cause people eat captured tracks shit up here.
