lecheconmiel
I had to ship out an LP today, and I picked up a mailer at a shop. It looks bizarre, there are no perforations, extra unnecessary flaps. Please, help me out if you know how to put this thing together. I'm very familiar with shipping out LP's, 7 inches, and cassettes, and I have never come across one like this before. kamalatapes
That's just extra protection, helps against corner dings. Instead of your actual record receiving corner jams those will corners at the most outer edge will take on the brunt of the forces at large. As long as your LP is night and snug inside with card board pressed against it you should be golden.
gutzonborglum
unless all four corners expose the record to the elements/protrusions. I've never seen one like that. Doesn't quite make sense to have those corners open.
lecheconmiel
Thanks for the input! I will add small cardboard cutouts to the open areas as suggested to protect it from rain, snow, etc. I won't be buying these again needless to say. I still don't understand how they work, it makes me feel stupid! Satan
NoFxpunkguy
i received a record in a box that sorta resembled that. The corners were folded inside to secure the record. the shape and size you have now is it a bit bigger than a normal mailer. I think a extra fold or 2 needs to occur to make that work properly. i tried looking for the box i had like that but its been recycled or used as fire starter. randomfortunepa
I think I figured it out...these must have been maiilers for a large distro / shop order and were a set part of a larger box. The top and the bottom are so they corners don't get beat up. I would just add 4 pieces of extra cardboard and take advantage of the corner protection. Just make the record inside is snug as there is a lot of open space in there.
