  1. Ouch. That certainly open the East up a bit.
  2. I think what Montreal did against the Caps is admirable but they're not beating the Pens. Halak isn't giving you a .977 save percentage in three games against the Pens. Everyone on that team knows what it takes in the playoffs. Though, if they lose Staal for a long period that could be very rough.
  3. Any Bruins' fans interested in a Bruins black Jim Craig jersey? Its pre-Reebok jersey. I think its a 46 or a 52.
  4. Okay, so I didn't explain myself fully. Martin actually can and did play third base for so time before the Dodgers got Casey Blake. Martin has speed like Biggio did when he was catching and should move positions anyway. Wouldn't it be better in the long run to keep this kid, move Martin, and not trade away Meloan? Me thinks so. And I think you could have made the same decision then because while the bullpen has been nails for the past few years, the starters haven't been WS caliber. Meaning, likely the Dodgers weren't winning the Series anyway so why give the kid away to get one and half good years of Casey Blake? That's the type of decision a good GM gets right more often than not. And if you're winning now, why the hell don't you deal Bills for Doc?
  5. Are you talking about Casey Blake? Cause he has been great as a Dodger and that Santana kid isn't even in the majors. When they traded Santana these were his stats: Class A Inland Empire 323 (113-for-350), 88 runs, 34 doubles, 4 triples, 14 homers, 96 RBI, 69 walks, 59 strikeouts; Class A Kinston .352 (37-for-105), 37 runs, 5 doubles, 1 triple, 6 homers, 19 RBI, 20 walks, 24 strikeouts; Class AA Akron .125 (1-for-8), 1 homer, 2 RBI, 2 strikeouts. Now this year: Not to mention they gave up Meloan in that deal who's now pitching in Oakland and has struckout 11 guys in 8.1 innings pitched while walking only 2.
  6. We fucking suck. Add in our idiot GM bitching about the best player on the team, Matt Kemp, and you've got a great situation in Dodgertown. All of Colleti's moves are really looking stupid now. Not to mention the more I watch Torre "manage" the less impressed I am with him. Trade a young, plus-plus hitting catcher for an aging third baseman? Yes! Play Jamie Carrol, Reed Johnson, and Garret Anderson over Xavier Paul? Yes! Use Padilla as a fifth starter over McDonald? Yes! Allow your manager to pitch the same dude 15 times in 22 games? Yes! Let one of your best starters, a guy from LA, go away in Free Agency? Yes! Oh and list goes on and on and on. However, if they managed to use Manny's money to bring in Carl Crawford for the next ten years I could turn a blind eye to this catastrophic season.
  7. Honestly, I don't buy in to Vancouver one bit. It could be bitterness sure but if the Kings had some killer instinct they'd be playing the Sharks in round 1. They had Vancouver in the last two games at Staples and played tight. I also figure Chicago should be better than they were against Nashville.
  8. Pitt over Habs in 5 Boston over Philly in 7 San Jose over Detroit in 7 Chicago over Vancouver in 5 Chicago over San Jose in 7 Pitt over Boston in 5 Pitt over Chicago in 7
  9. But its damn near one of the funniest. I'm happy for the Bucs.
  10. Much credit to the Habs but Halak did most of the work to get the team to where they are. And that can take you a long ways, I mean look at Colorado. Oh, wait... Fact is, the Caps need to build themselves for the playoffs. A little less flash, a lot more substance. And it has nothing to do with Ovie. Their best to defenseman are like Joe Corvo and Mike Green. And Green is great offensively but I wouldn't trust him one-on-one. I mean the second Habs goal was a total defensive cluster fuck. Not to mention the Caps goaltending is totally suspect. I just figured they had enough offense to get past the first round. I guess not so much.
  11. Song is called "Lights", can be downloaded here: http://stereogum.com/356931/interpol-lights/mp3s/ Much more like the first record in feel and tone. Happy to see them going back to what they ruled at doing.
  12. Don't think they'll ever play Chain again. Its a tiny, tiny place. I was shocked they played it but stoked to be there.
  13. The more I read about Wilt getting 100 the less impressive it seems.
  14. (I know, not in a playoff game but still, 81 flippin points?)
  15. Man do the Dodgers suck. This is going to be a long year after the last two.
  16. I have to say, after last night's Laker game, I feel better. I didn't think Artest still had the ups to dunk.
  17. obviously, this pick up line would not work on me. How about, "hey, you wanna un-cap my telephoto lens?"
  18. i don't care. but it's funny seeing so many people whining and stressing over whether they get a colored one or not. I can see you not getting it because its "not your thing." But photographer is. So lets say, for instance, you lost out on a sweet auction to get a lens you really wanted badly just because you woke-up 10 minutes late. You'd be bummed, no? Its the same deal for people who like collecting all the colors. Sure, their attitude about vinyl might not be the same as yours but its their deal and their money. Who is anyone to tell them they're wrong for investing their money in 5 Gaslight records? I know you're cool so you're not doing much but wondering aloud but I'm just saying, everyone has their thing.
  19. Sinchas brought up Michael, is it just me or do people hate Kobe for doing the things they loved when Michael did them?
  20. I understand but what I'm saying is Price can't be considered an all-potential guy anymore, he's played too much.
  21. I dunno, they LOVE Price's potential up there. Kind of like us Pen's fans love MAFs. Price is still very young, Halak is young at 24 too, but many think he's at his peak, while Price is still growing. Tough situation. With the major exception being Price hasn't won Montreal jack and MAF has taken the Pens to two Stanley Cup Finals, winning one. Goalies take a bit longer, usually, to develop so Halak going steam at 24 is not unusual at all. He should have 10 good years in front of him. Price could be fantastic but gotta move him when people still view him as a probable top-tier guy. Especially with Marty getting old and multiple other teams looking for long-term solutions in net.
  22. I don't think that's necessarily true. Certain players make a ton of money for their team. If the Cards didn't have Pujols they wouldn't make the playoffs and wouldn't sell as much merch or even bring in as many people on the road. I think all of that should be taken in to account when assessing a player's worth. In that regard there aren't many players worth that much but some are definitely.
  23. Considering the Habs are small up the middle and slow on the back-end generally, I think the Canadians have some room to improve with a couple of trades.
