  1. Flenser seems to have good quality production.  The fact this is being self-released and not handled by Flenser is kind of not a great sign.  Besides having a reputation for not sending goods, the quality of the Hubardo 3xLP was not up to standards.  It was advertised as being 200g vinyl but turned out to not even be 180g heavyweight vinyl.  The records themselves as super floppy, like 140-160g range.  Referring to the original self-released pre-order press here and not the recent Flenser reissue.

In addition to that the original run had an option to bundle the Sword of Satan book.  The book quality was also very cheap and a lot of the screen printed text didn't transfer properly, paragraphs were missing words, making the books seem unfinished.

So either almost $50 or almost $60 shipped within the US?  For something hopefully out by Christmas?  Pass.

Not only this, but last time they did a self-release, (Hubardo 3xLP) many people had to pester him via email and his personal facebook page for YEARS in order to receive a simple refund because they never got their stuff.  Toby Driver has a reputation for doing this.  He tends to just give people excuses for years.  One kid mad to get him mom get mad at him on facebook to get a refund to the mom's credit card.  That was for the Hubardo thing., Prior to that, they had a kickstarter that is still unfinished, the project is called 'Ichneumonidae' and if you look it up and check the comments you'll see nobody ever got anything and quite a few people were miffed about it.

I pitched on the kickstarter for Tartar Lamb 2 and Ichneumonidae, I personally did get the Hubardo 3xLPs but the quality was not nearly as good as I was expecting, and many people didn't.  After the Ichneumonidae thing and the amount of people I read got burned on Hubardo, I wouldn't even touch this unless you want to gamble and don't care if you never receive anything at all.  Or have to bug the guy every few months for years to maybe eventually get a refund.

  3. Gonna make a small statement here that will probably largely go unnoticed here, or at risk or being hated on (definitely actually), but oh well, I've got nothing to lose.

I think I'm done with this board.  Too many run-ins with internet jerks too often.  Too many people who know more about plastic than sound.  Too much time spent thinking on other people's behalf.  This doesn't happen to me anywhere else on the internet.  VC rivals youtube comments as the bottom of the internet barrel, reality is that is VC's reputation. Even on twitch people are not only respectful, but actually nice and kind.  People like my jokes and don't struggle to misinterpret anything they possibly can.  People aren't xenophobic or alienating. The people here are just awful human beings.  There I said it.  Of course I've never truly fit in anywhere in life so I'm not sure why I'd expect to find any common ground anywhere, shouldn't be much of a surprise.

After my lastest squabble I'm once again under fire from a groupthink mob.  You know the ones who wander into any thread just to be mean spirited.  I don't know where I'm going with this.  But two main points I wanted to get off my chest are that 1) I have actually had nightmares about the way I've been treated on VC.  I want to think I don't care that much, but I think it's a coping mechanism when you feel like your being attacked.  The best part is that people who are mean to you probably get off their keyboard and have a great day.  Love it.  Just like everywhere else in life.

Last year I had a really hard year.  And I mean really hard and the entire year sticks in my memory that way.  I don't want to get into details because I keep that shit close to my chest.  Actually fuck it, I don't have anything to lose.  Last year I was hospitalized for 3 days because people who knew me were afraid I was going to kill myself because I was sad and grumpy all the time and didn't actually have too many real friends..  They hold you for a mandatory 3 days, assess you and release you, unless they think your mentally ill, then they lock you up and put you on meds.  As if life didn't suck enough at that point.  But I had 2 best friends who helped me through it and to see the good things in life.  Fast foward... This year started looking up and I faced some pretty big obstactes this spring and tried to move past them and was really proud of the fact that I was overcoming all these difficulties being thrown my way.  One of my 'friends' ripped me off for about $1,500, which is a lot to me, I was attempting to build a better life for myself and they saw it as opportunity to take advantage. Then in the midst of thinking everything was not so bad after getting my head above water and managing to stay afloat, I woke up on May 20th 2015 to my mother crying.  She told me my best friend had been killed. I'd never lost anyone I actually loved before.  I never said anything here or anywhere else (facebook, etc.) because I'm not looking for sympathy, my point is when you go through shit like that, it sucks. Let me tell you, great time for people to stop answering your texts, etc. So I kinda shut down a bit.  And then I come here and it's just an unhealthy environment.  Small talk is cool on the whole, but equipment and vinyl thread, forget about it.  I don't have a lot of friends, actually I had 2 real friends and one got killed.  But I think I would consider some of you internet friends.  I don't know maybe none of you here like me either.  And you probably shouldn't because other people don't and if you like me they might not like you so it's just safer to treat me as a pariah.

I know one post that's probably too long for most people to read, or care won't change anything but this board is toxic and the moderation sucks.  Yeah, that's right, I said it.  I know my thoughts are scattered here, and it's kind of impossible to summarize, everything I write gets misinterpreted and twisted anyway, so before I go on to long: fuck this place.

  4.

Seriously.  Wikipedia is hardly the end-all source for something like this, but please; read the first sentence.

Guess you never read the lyrics to Goodbye. Too bad you missed the LA date, baka gaijin,  I'll be seeing them for the 2nd time and I have an extra ticket.  Btw my recommendation for you is to take your photoshop template, put on a USB drive and insert into your anus.  Also the surefire way to tell you've got nothing backing your arguement is to attack someone's grammar.  I would blame autocorrect, but I was just too busy to deal with your bullshit.

  5. Their studio work doesn't really come across as emo but after seeing them live, I'm inclined to agree with "emo" as a description of their stage presence. They are so in the zone when they play. They're one of the few bands I've seen that literally dance with their instruments. In their chaotic moments, they can definitely be classified as an "emo" band.

THANK YOU! someone who knows their shit and doesn't have their head up their ass.

Their guitarist wears a fucking knee pad and is down on his knees practically crying the entire set.

DEREK I know your a regular but FUCK OFF. Get off my back and get a fucking life.  Sounds to me like your smug, jealous, and ignorant.  If you think your opinion matters to me you are dreaming.

For someone who dislikes emo so much you certainly are a whiny bitch.

  6. And you obviously aren't aware of what the "emo" genre entails.

Like how you edited from question to statement to seem even more like a smug bastard.

When I was in college (I took recording engineering)  I had a music lit prof.  He's pretty well known for interviewing pretty great bands like Tortoise, Merzbow, etc.

I did a project on emo and he raved about how my presentation was the best he'd ever seem.  He asked me during the presentation to define emo.  I'm 28 years old and been listening to emo since I was 14, that's 14 years half my life... so take that and shove it up your self righteous asshole.

  7. As we're talking about men's hair... why do so many shave their legs? I've heard that most women don't even care for that, but still I see it quite a lot. Or is this a European thing?

The only place I've heard of this was in highschool it was popular with the athletic crowd.  Something about showing off your calves or making them look bigger or something?  Like showing them off in basketball shorts.  Not really sure exactly why.

I did it myself and some people gave me shit.  On the other hand, some girls asked if they could feel my legs and would flirt with me.

  8. Long time no see, my friends.

I don't know who anyone is with these name changes. Just thought I'd pop in and say hello. I miss the community a whole lot but things got really crazy. I should hopefully have my laptop by next month and then maybe I'll be active again.

Good news, I quit Target and got a new job back in the mall. Was offered a promotion before my first day but won't start training for it until a week in since our store manager is on vacation.

Logan! It has been a while!

  9. All I have left is about 180 Riddler things to find and then I can dive into the Harley Quinn and Red Hood extra stuff.

Might as well get those DLC packs out of the way now to break up the monotony cause they only take about 5 minutes each to beat.  Notice they only have 1 trophy apiece.  The HQ one is cool though playing as her is super fun and the end has something cool in store, but it's very short.

I'm near the end but I lost my motivation to finish

You're missing out, the ending of the main quest is super cool. Heard some people say they hate it, but I really sticks out in my mind.

  10. Just flipping through my mental rolodex, disappointingly few.  I had already noticed before seeing this thread that most of my favourite bands were predominantly male.  Just shook out that way.  Not sure if that is a reflection of my taste, or of the music industry, and women's role in music as a whole.

A few weeks ago my neighbour came to me and said that her daughter wanted to learn to play drums.  Not sure of the kid's age but I would guess like early grade school age.  I gave the mom 2 pairs of my favourite drum sticks and she offered to pay and I said 'no need to pay me anything, as long as she uses them.'
