  1. Hey, I know there was a thread discussing the records prior to Long Live several months back being pressed onto vinyl(s)(*snicker*), but I can't seem to find it now. Is Solid State pretty much holding this up or what? It'd be nice to have those records on the shelf beside Long Live for sure. (again, sorry for the redundancy - I really couldn't find the aforementioned thread where this was discussed prior)
  2. Yeah man, that's the way to do it. Another thing I do when searching through those bins is paying attention to particular labels. I was huge into the early Replacements for awhile and would pretty much blindly buy anything on Twin Tone records as a result and for the most part, I got a lot of great stuff. Found a sealed New Pornographers in one of those bins once as well - when I took it to the counter, the clerk made a crack that the owner was going senile and didn't even know what he was doing nowadays.
  3. found a beat up but very playable copy of Psycho Candy by The Jesus and Mary Chain in a .50 cent bin once. My tastes tend to lean towards the more bizarre end of late 70's and early 80's post punk and such, oftentimes I'll scour the cheapo bins with phone in hand and look up anything that looks odd compared to the usual mess one finds (Frampton and the like), I've come away with some really crazy stuff with this method as oftentimes that stuff is so unheard of that most record store folks are just throwing them in there because they don't know what to do with them as they haven't heard of them and don't know how to price accordingly.
  4. Hey Folks, Passed on this for the longest time because I didn't think it would go back to impossible to find. Anyone got a copy they wouldn't mind getting off their hands?
  5. This is no good. I remember when they were at their old location in the same plaza as Junkman's Daughter - alot of memories there. I hope they pull through.
  6. Woke up too late to see all black are gone (not too fond of colored vinyl either) but I'm still seriously stoked to have this on my shelf.
  7. Thanks for the heads up! Just placed an order as well right as I was about to drop a good bit more on a used copy.
  8. I know I'm in the minority for including Parade of Chaos, but that (with Splinter Shards being the first) was the last of the five Zao records I practically worshipped in high school. (I loved the original All Else Failed but that style of mid 90's HC never connected with me as much). The newer AEF I never even listened to more than a song or two. Seriously stoked to have self-titled on vinyl (getting that Parade of Chaos means I'd have all five in *my* personal Zao canon on my preferred format).
  9. In terms of kraut, I'm assuming you've already gotten into Can, Faust and such, correct? Psych wise, Les Rallizes Denudes is a Japanese band who take the White Light era drone of The Velvets and elongate it for hours - Plastic Crimewave Sound are a band from Chicago and mine similar territory nowadays. I would also recommend the These Shocking, Shaking Days 3xLP comp on The Stones Throw label - it's loaded down with a ton of great 60's Indonesian psych which should be righgt what you're after!
  10. See a few on the list I'd like to get - wanting to make sure he's reliable before setting up payment though.
  11. That's a great tune! The Eccentric Soul: Prix Label comp where it comes from is great as well - alot more of that straight up Motown influence than alot of the grittier stuff in thr label's catalogue.
  12. I know most of the focus on these boards tends to lean towards the punk/general indie rock side of things, but I figured I'd ask if anyone else collects anything from the Numero label. In terms of general geekery, these guys are brilliant - uniform spines for each LP as well as a numbering system along with extensive liner notes, sturdy sleeves and thick vinyl (sometimes but not always 180g). The music tends to go towards the obscure soul and psych territories (they're strictly archival) and for some, that alone could be a turn off, figured I'd throw this out there while doubling it as an intro of myself (I've lurked these boards for several years but never jumped in).
  13. Obvious stuff that can be found in abundance in any thrift store (Thriller - I know people bought the double LP re-issue with all the reworkings of the songs but I don't understand still), most of the stuff that gets put out on RSD (most! Not all).
  14. It looks really similar to a Cramps bootleg (Memphis Poseurs) that's been circulating.
  15. My friend, I wasn't being malicious or trying to name drop - really I was expressing how long I've been following this band and how enthusiastic I was to find out about this boxset. I'm originally from that area of Georgia and remember their days when they had an actual DJ and did the whole back turned to the audience thing - not too many people NOW a days even know those things much less have heard the 5EP (wretched thing that it is). No ill intentions meant
  16. i had no idea this box set even existed until about two hours ago. Being as compulsive as I am (and having been one of the few to actually have been around to see them during their pre-Solid State Luti Kriss years), I ordered a copy of this box right away. After reading over this thread, I'm a bit worried now though. Is this thing sold out? Did I just throw 50 bucks at something I'm never going to see? Dangit!
