  1. hey var, i posted this in another thread, but since you posted here, maybe you'll re-read it in the future or something..

sometimes the no idea shopping cart pisses me off to no end. it'll keep saying my cart is empty when i try to reduce the number of records in the cart, then when i finally go to check out using the credit card option, it'll say that there was an error after i filled it all out and submitted it. so i'll go back to my cart to find it empty, so i'll click on what I want and it'll show up with two as the quantity in my cart. and then the cycle repeats. I finally got my order through when i did the paypal payment option. any idea why it does this? it happens every time i try to place an order and use my credit card

I barely understand buttered toast, much less computers. I suspect it has something to do with the computer you are using, the browser, our host, the ghosts on mars, and that wicked fart someone just ripped. Email Peej. Check his digits on the mainpage.

  2. OKAY, so here's the final update:

We will be shipping the records on or before Monday. (NO PESTERING!)

Some things changed slightly, due to vinyl shortages, etc, but we are HAPPY AS PIE to have them at all!!

-- 100 white vinyl (all gone to mailorder pre-orders)

    -- 350 clear (regular clear, not coke-bottle / sea-glass)

    -- 350 green (not blue)

THE BAND will have CLEAR and GREEN at shows (starting this Friday, if all goes well).

  3. The current USA pressing was made at URP using the mothers from GZ. So it looks very similar and benefits from the DMM. Should sound identical. I believe the only noticeable, small difference is that the URP version ALSO has the catalog # hand-etched in the run-off groove.

This test either originated from the band or Hellbent. I know that a concerted effort was made by Hellbent to make sure NONE of these ended up on Ebay. Go figure.

-- But, in all seriousness, what would you creeps be willing to pay for one of these IF YOU KNEW 100% of the $ would go to charity?

(I don't have one to sell you, so don't start writing me, but I just wondered how the GA collector nerds would feel if it was sanctioned and righteous, not just Ebay? I know I would think it was cool. I just thought it might be interesting to start the conversation, hypothetically.)

  4. so, it's safe to say there will be 5 different colored sleeves?

    Bingo! We have a winner!

-- 200-250 of each color cover.

-- If you want the kids to color your cover, just ask. They'd be happy to hook you up. Markers or crayons? Your choice.

-- We wanted to keep it inline with the original press, yet distinctive for any collector nerds. Pocket sleeve = fine wine.

  5. No Idea is trading YL splits with YO YO... so the AV split should be in the states before long (and the B&T split in Europe). Trading 300-500. We'll see how that shakes down. No clue the colors pressed on either record yet.

YL is freaking on fire right now, so if you pass up a chance to see them... you are crazy.

What's up with some west coast action?

If I recall, the West Coast is on deck post-Fest, so either late 2008 or early 2009. I forget. It is in the works though.

  6. from a previous thread:

    Welcome to our world.

#1: the first cut was bad; didn't even reach the test press phase (damage to the lacquer).

#2: pressing plant way backed up.

#3: pressing plant RAN OUT of colored vinyl. We are supposed to get the larger-run colors any time now. There is a very large chance that we will get GREEN instead of BLUE. Cest la vie.

#4: we had to move the WHITE pressing to a different plant that actually had WHITE vinyl. Yes. We are THAT committed to making WHITE record for the pre-order folks.

#5: the band is on tour. we are freaking the freak freak wanting these records!

#6: Technically, the dang BRIDGE AND TUNNEL / YOUNG LIVERS split 7" beat the LP out, even though it started later. Insane. Speaking of which, YOUNG LIVERS have this 7" on their current East Coast USA and European tours. This is the ONLY WAY to get this record right now. It's not even posted anywhere yet. We are still waiting for the rest of the pressing... and are not sure when they will arrive. Goldanged vinyl shortage is driving everyone KWAZY!

(the songs are unreleased. YL features the debut of Mike Carter on bass / back ups).

  8. I'm sure you are an awesome person, so don't take this personally, but... you fucked yourself. On the positive side, at least you are very limber. Ha.

(Sadly, I bet it looked safe to you if all of your previous records were 100% good.)

It's never a good idea to skip the test press phase. If you are only making 100, okay, maybe you can risk it. But "risk" is the active word there.

There is such a thing as a "striker plate" that skips a step or two in the pre-press process. In this case, you just press records one time and get what you get. No tests. No re-pressing. Crazy.

I got a test recently that had the right band, but the wrong songs. You have to be careful. Everyone in the process can pull an "ooops", including yourself. Be careful. Wear an audio condom.

  9. Bear in mind that URP has two people that do nothing but listen to everything that comes through the door. They are VERY good at catching covers, samples, etc. They will catch punk songs and stuff you might not think (Replacements, X, Guided By Voices), although they are not going to catch covers of hardcore bands that never published their songs officially.

The place to look at for licensing covers or low-runs is the Harry Fox Agency. Google it or something.
